On your commute/leisure drive, listen to Shmup OST CDs?

Post by PC Engine Fan X! »

On your daily work commute or on your leisure drive, do you listen to Shmup OST (Original Sound Track) Music CDs in your vehicle's CD player?

And if so, what do you usually listen to (i.e. -- arcade PCB OST Music CDs from the arcade shmup developers like: Cave, Takumi, Konami, Success Corp., G.Rev, etc.)?

I have most of the Cave stuff, most of the Raizing stuff, Senko no Ronde, Einhander, Border Down, Hyper Duel Arranged, Thunderforce 6 and Radirgy on my iPod at present. Depending on my mood, I shuffleplay a selection of games albums or a playlist, or listen to one of my many trance/techno/chillout/anime/jpop&jtrance albums.

Yeah, an iPod loaded with Shmup OST music MP3s would be the updated & latest version to superceed the CD player with a stack of CDs to listen to. ^_~

Well I can't stand having to change media everytime my mood and tastes change, and when it comes to music, it changes on a daily basis. I got annoyed having to do that with CDs and MDs. An iPod was the way to go for me, and I've enjoyed the 3+ years I've had one. ^_-

My favorites are anything associated with Taito or Zuntata, so Ray series, Darius series, anything by G.rev. I also like anything by Manabu Namiki (Garegga, Daioujou).

Radiant Silvergun & Ketsui seem to do the trick for me.

Not really. Most shmup tunes don't mesh well enough with the rest of my tastes. I don't really digitalize my cds either, as I don't really want to run the music in the ground. My PDA songs end up in public in certain situations, so that means tailoring the playlist so I don't have to hover over the next button after every decent song.

Once upon a time I had the Gradius V soundtrack blasting in my car.

It was great!

Then I hit a curb.

I haven't listened to shmup music in my car since.

A few game tunes here and there on my ipod. Namely DDPDOJ true end boss, stage 4, and ESPGaluda true end boss. I have more Overclocked remixes on there than OST stuff.

i have lots of shmup music on my ipod, which gets a fair amount of use while walking, on the bus etc, but best of all i have lots of opportunity to listen at work - often there are only 2 of us in the office i work in and the other chap is a games fan so i plug the pod into some active speakers and we can listen to shmup tunes for hours some days :D now playing: Under Defeat arranged soundtrack.

Yes, I've spun TF4, Tyrian, Zuntata stuff, Viewpoint, & even some non-shmup stuff (like Panzer Dragoon) in my car before.

Closest i have ever gotten to listening to a shmup cd was when i forgot my CDs on a 12 hour drive....but remembered my saturn games :) I popped in dodonpachi thunder force 5 and anything else i had available just to pass the time :) I do have every castlevania ost though.

102GB of game music and counting.
There is so much stuff out there that I really love. Too much to name but the SHMUP stuff is generally the best.

The nearest I think i've come to shmup listening in the car is Panzer dragoon and Zwei OST's. Which are awesome.

Most shmup music isn't what i'd call road worthy.
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

Yep; DDP/Espgaluda perfect remix, Shikigami 2, Zuntata stuff, Battle Garegga, Soukyugurentai and plenty more. Doesn't help my agressive (assertive) driving style as far as safety goes though.

OK, so I've fallen madly in love with Border Down, which I recently received by way of Professor Ganson, and I absolutely love the soundtrack and am seriously considering buying that and the Progear CD. The Q here is, does anyone have the BD Soundtrack vol.2 that you can buy, and how is it? I'm guessing it's not the original game soundtracks, since that was in the limited edition CD, right? So, what is in there?

Help would be appreciated!

Sometimes I do; I listen to the more mellow tracks when I'm stuck in traffic. If I want to go into a seizure, I would play "Stab and Stomp!"

Recently launched an Ikaruga/Gradius assault on bystanders in a parking lot.

It was a great day.

Yup. I do. I even made a shmup mix CD with all of my favorite Techno Soft tunes from Blast Wind, Hyper Duel and TFV. It knocks too! I'll also throw in Castlevania L.O.I. and C.O.D. once in a while. Both are excellent on the road.

I often listen to shmup-MP3 that I found on the Web. There is of all but I have a preference for the musics like “Gates of Thunder” without forgetting those of “OUTZONE”.

Only when I am alone in my car! My wife does not like that.
