whats the deal with shmups who makes these things
WAIT WAIT hold up
I thought this thread was about faking replays, but under further investigation (reading the first few posts), it seems to be about watching replays to get better.
Nemo, it hurts me to say this, but it's for your own good.
You are a fucking idiot.

i think this "level playing field" already exists, more or less, as we all have access to the same resources for these games. i don't think it's a great idea to try to impose rules in a contest after it's started though, and i don't think this idea of denying players access to certain resources will ever be popular. the simile with steroids is not valid i think - the problem with steroids is the deleterious physical side effects, watching videos is absolutely no comparison to this.
Nemo: If you really want to pursue this idea of a Level Playing Field you should start a new contest, probably on an unknown shmup and with strictly controlled conditions to give each player the same playing environment, playing duration etc. I doubt you'd get many contestants for this but i'd give it a go.

That's why they are illegal, not why they are banned from sports.mulletgeezer wrote:i think this "level playing field" already exists, more or less, as we all have access to the same resources for these games. i don't think it's a great idea to try to impose rules in a contest after it's started though, and i don't think this idea of denying players access to certain resources will ever be popular. the simile with steroids is not valid i think - the problem with steroids is the deleterious physical side effects, watching videos is absolutely no comparison to this.
I just might do that.Nemo: If you really want to pursue this idea of a Level Playing Field you should start a new contest, probably on an unknown shmup and with strictly controlled conditions to give each player the same playing environment, playing duration etc. I doubt you'd get many contestants for this but i'd give it a go.
And to all the random posters: I'm always amused by the people that come into threads like this without even reading the discussion just to call it stupid, as if you're forced to read it or its existence somehow has an effect on your life. It's merely one thread in a sea of a hundred, yet it's depressing that the few threads like this, that actually attempt to contribute to and further the culture of shmups gets jeered at. It doesn't matter if you completely disagree with me, at least the proposition should make you think. But oh well, there are plenty of topics covering the mentally stimulating discussion of "what your favorite power-up noise in a shmup is" awaiting for contribution. Have at it friends, have at it.

I think Rando should be the Shredder, because he is the self-confessed "root of all evil". ^_-

Since i'm the root of all evil, you can blame me for free, of course. Where are Rocksteady and Bebop, btw?Rob wrote:I feel sorry for Nemo. He just wanted to discuss something and you all ruined it.
