Raystorm LaserDisc

Mikoto from another forum found this little gem. I did some googling and it seems to be a super replay, on LD! Does anyone know who's playing, or if there are similar releases from Taito, or other companies? Any piece of information on this would be highly appreciated!

What the....

That is awesome! I would take that just for the simple fact that it is on laser disc (even though I don't own a player!) and I would assume a pretty rare item???

I don't know if I've seen that one, but Layer Section LD replays have been on YAJ for some time.

I dont know if its related in any way, but I have that funky Darius Gaiden video with the ridiculous live action story scenes and a superplay. Taito/Zuntata were crazy..

Wow, that sounds very interesting, reminds me of the extras of the MCD version of Ninja Warriors. :)

If you click on the shops link on that web page you can buy one for $29.99. Not very pricey so probably not too rare either.

Yep, Laserdisc format is still supported in Japan only...

Yes, the Laserdisc format is still supported (at least) for Japan market only. When I was there back in early 2000, I was surprised that one could still find Laserdisc formatted movies, anime, etc. in Akihabara.

Even though Pioneer and Sony had brought out the cross-over combo Laserdisc/DVD players for those who had extensive Laserdisc collections, the purists just kept their Laserdisc players rather than upgrade to such a cross-over format machine (which if it were to breakdown, would be more expensive to repair in the long run) than if one were to have two seperate format players: a seperate Laserdisc player and a DVD player. Makes sense if one stops and thinks about it. I remember the retail price of these "cross-over" Laserdisc/DVD hybrid players were $1,000-$1,500 USD back in 1997-1998. Definitely not cheap! ^_~

That's really cool, can someone let us know the content? This may just give me an excuse to dust off the LD player...

I'm 90% sure it's a replay, I bet it's the one featured in the Ray-boxset.
