Also pulled off the 128x angel trick, but the angel was a 48x. ;_;
Still need one life spare to kill the last boss, but for now, quite happy with progress. 45mil maybe?

I don't know. The scores are up-to-date up until CRI's 28mil.
We'll have to wait and see. Don't think he'll be expecting 72 new score entries, though. ^_-

I am most certain he can't just take over the competition's result and add them to this thread. The competition had differnent rules as it allowed autofire and here it's all defaults (which autofire isn't).
And since one can't see which score is made with help of autofire one can't copy/paste the scores in this thread. Individual people should post their scores to get it in the table here!

Were you emulating? I think Edge put up something on the first or second page of the score thread on how to enable autofire in MAME+ variants. Just as easy as setting up a custom button, really. ^_-

I think you can set up autofire in FinalBurn and Kawaks as well, similar principle (custom buttons).

What I meant was that Blazing Star has no "autofire on/off" setting in the MVS options or AES options, so it wouldn't matter if someone used it or not, as it does not significantly break the game for all characters (and in some cases, is necessary for some ships to be used properly).

Also, both Dinos and Peplos are difficult to nearly impossible to score high and/or survive with without autofire or a finger that can press fire butan 10 times a second (12 for Peplos).

Maybe so, but I did cheat my way to 14.9 million with autofire where as without it the bosses would have given me alot more trouble.

Without autofire that score could have been several million higher provided you were playing in a scoring manner than in a survival manner. Survival gets you a score much lower on a clear than if you had milked stages 1, 3, and 4 properly and then died at 6.

And since this competition is about score and not survival, autofire puts you at a disadvantage because the bosses won't stay alive as long if you just held the autofire key.

Not neccesarily for everyone is it a hindrance to boosting there personal highs. Some people for instance might not, or less often, make it to "good" milking spots in the game if they could't use autofire to get through the uninteresting parts. If a part is too hard for them normally, they can toggle autofire and end it faster so they can survive till a next milking spot they otherwise would not reach (and wouldn't be able to profit from anyway).

It won't help in getting the max score out of the game, but it could help bump one's score quite a lot if one isn't too secure with some parts of the game and wouldn't reach a max score anyway.
I presume this is mostly of importance for people in the lower tiers though 1 or 2 people in the top tiers might have had some advantage as well.

i seriously missed something about this game, how come you are scoring around x2.5 my score (which is around 5m end st 3), and im collecting all the blue gems which are at about 40,000 before the boss, and 81k at end of the boss, and chaining pretty well too???

My medals are around 50,000 to 60,000 by the start of the second boss, 81,560 at the very start of stage3 (occasionally maxed during the second boss on good days), I don't destroy the trash generators in stage3 until they are almost off the screen, plus I milk the third boss until timeout.
