I'm not asking for the world here folks, just a little help in playing this file.
I TOLD you all that I converted it into an avi file, I have DIVX on my PC, and there's no good reason that it shouldn't be running.
I just need to know what to do now, this is my first experience with BIT Torrent files, alright? So lay off the attitude!

I am SICK of this site; you ask a SIMPLE question, and people treat you like an ASS. Yes I did ask about BIT Torrent with regard to PSX emulation, but that was a LONG time ago, and it never worked out right.
PLEAAASEEE, I have Bit Torrent v. 4.0 downloaded, it WILL NOT DOWNLOAD the MOVIE-the download rate says 0.0%. Please help if any of you can be decent enough to do so.

Dog! I'm a n00b myself, but this goes beyond ignorance....
Trek trough the Galaxy on silver wings and play football online.
Dave.. uh.. that's not conversion. Bit Torrent will not change one video format to another. Maybe what you are trying to say is that you downloaded the torrent file, right?
Until Bit Torrent says that the file is downloaded 100%, then the file is not there. A torrent file is like a beacon which guides whatever it is you are trying to download to your computer. So "converting" ( I still wonder how BT can "convert") it will not do anything good. When the download is complete, the beacon disappears and in its place you have your video, music, cracked copy of XP, Furry Pr0n, etc.

Don't hold grudges. GET EVEN.
Dave, I hope you realize that it's at 0% because there's no one uploading it (meaning that there's nobody for you to download it from). You're just going to have to let it sit there until someone seeds it (someone who already has the file puts it up for sharing). The file is already created on your hard drive, but it is not downloaded yet, as is the nature of BitTorrent.
Once the file is 100% done on BitTorrent, you'll be able to watch it. It doesn't matter if you use the DivX player or Windows Media Player.

So are you admitting that was YOU in the temp forum? Funny you ended up blaming an imaginary imposter to get the egg off your head. Nobody really wants to treat anybody as an ass (not me at least), but when I see something like this pop up twice, I can't help but chime in an give my opinion, as harsh as it is. Besides, anyone should go to fuckinggoogleit.com before asking a question like this.dave4shmups wrote:I am SICK of this site; you ask a SIMPLE question, and people treat you like an ASS. 1. I didn't download the file while I was at school.
2. I am now at home for break, and am on dialup.
You don't have to sit there and watch it, just open up BitTorrent and leave your computer to do something else. Once it's done downloading, you'll automatically start sharing the file with others so that no one else has to ask why RayCrisis.avi won't work for them.

Between myself and Icarus as seeds I believe it has been seeded around the clock since it went up. I am still currently seeding it...mannerbot wrote:no one with THE FILE is on BitTorrent at the moment.
You don't necessarily need to ask TF to seed it, but if nobody else has downloaded it so far, he would have to.

My experience with BT is that it starts slow and the more you share the more you d/l. Also, two seeds aren't that many, and there may be loads of people wanting the file.dave4shmups wrote:There's two people seeding it right now, and it's still not downloading at all.

I bet you didn't know that in the past people have been able to download video cards. Not with me? 3DFX Corporation used to sell Glide(tm)-compatible plug-in hardware that many powerful 3D games required to run. Until some smart hacker created a "Glide(tm) wrapper" piece of software in a few hundred kilobytes, that effectively allowed users with rival cards to effortlessly translate the 3DFX system calls. It worked pretty well too...sethsez wrote:Also, "where is the best place to download a video card?" (if anyone here browses IGN's forums, they'll get that... if not, well, you still see why it's applicable)
This let users in the 90s "download" a 3DFX video card to meet a game's system requirements, if they had a decent enough PC, and saving themselves several hundred bucks.

That's... not exactly the same thing. The person who asked this question had no clue what a video card actually was, and got quite frustrated when nobody bothered to say why it was such a funny question. The whole situation wouldn't have come up if he'd just spent the five minutes it takes to find out what a video card is.
And that 3DFX info is interesting, but it's more like downloading a new driver than a card. If I download an SNES emulator, that doesn't mean I have an SNES. I just have something that can play its games. And like you said, that "wrapper" required another card in the first place.
