I had Lords of Thunder tacked onto a trade recently because it was so scratched up the guy was not sure it would work. The only problem with it is that the last stage music will skip a little.
Now all I need is to find a place that sells good condition Sega CD/Saturn cases.

Radiant Silvergun Saturn shrinkwrapped, for free, back in the day.
Actually I taught the guy at the shop how to mod Sega Saturns for 60/50Hz PAL/NTSC, and a brand new copy was my reward.

I just remembered another good deal, I got the Gradius Deluxe Pack for PSX for 700 Yen ($7) at a used book store.
CIT wrote:Best deal I got was a Japanese Steel Empire for $2 off Ebay. In Japanese game stores it usually goes for around $100.
It was sold as "Japanese game title unkown", lucky for me I bothered to check the picture.

Giga Wing 2, Gunbird 2 and Mars Matrix $20 new when they first were released. Silvergun for 51$ new when it was originally released, as well.
Feedback will set you free.

Best deal? How about free:
Batsugun and Blastwind (Saturn), the guy was just sick of Saturn/Shmups so he gave them to me. There were some nice managers at EB
Good deals:
Twinkle Star Sprites (Saturn) for $25, Neo Geo AES version for $350 (ouch, but now it is even more)
Radiant Silvergun (Saturn) $57.99, not that great of a deal at the time but it was new and I am sure someone picked up the cheapies from EB for alot less. Same thing for Battle Garegga.

Several years ago I bought a mint condition Radiant Silvergun with spine card for $130 on eBay using PayPal. There must've been some screw-up with PayPal and it never debited from my bank account nor did I have any existing PayPal credit so I got it for free. Being a typical American, I chose not to report this error. I sold it a couple months ago on eBay for $200 (as I was betting that Treasure does a remake/port of this game soon!)

I needed the money for my side business when I sold it. I held RS in such high regard that I never played it for fear I'd grow tired of it. I still miss seeing it nestled within my game collection, but I don't mind waiting for the port/remake of the game--whenever that would be.Ceph wrote:Mistake on your endchimpp wrote:I sold it a couple months ago on eBay for $200 (as I was betting that Treasure does a remake/port of this game soon!)

Crazy cheap-ass shmup related deals on eBay...
Best deals on shmup titles I scored on eBay were:
I snagged a brand new copy of Success Corp. PS2 import Psyvariar Complete Edition - Special Capture Box for a mere $31.00 USD off of eBay a few years back. This is the one Psyvariar package that includes the cool limited release DVD with "Tate-able" versions of Psyvariar Medium Unit & Psyvariar Revision superplays. ^_~
I also won an SP1 game cartridge of "Viper Phase 1 U.S.A." off of eBay a few years back for a mere $20.00 USD...I still can't believe that I got it so cheap...if paired up with an SP1 motherboard and sold as a bundled package, it will fetch some serious $$$ indeed. ^_~

Not sure of my 'best' deal on a shmup, but US$95 for my immaculate original "Batsugun" PCB seems pretty good to me. It can be a real hard one to find at the best of times. At the time, in my blatant ignorance of the esteem this title is held in, I cheekily talked the guy down by about $25! I said something along the lines of "lets face it, it's a old board with little to no demand from gamers/collectors. Do ya wanna shift it or not".
LOL I actually feel really embarrassed by my naivety at the time as it turned out to not only grow to be one of my favourite shmups personally, but also one of the most highly revered in all Shmupdom!!

Hmm:
Harmful Park - 5000JPY (no shipping, I bought it in Japan!
Boogie Wings/Great Ragtime Show PCB - $172 shipped.
Fever SOS - $20. It was faulty and I brought it back to 100% after a couple of hours of trouble shooting, resoldering, and EPROM programming
Thundercade/UAG PCB w/ header & manual - $25 shipped. Still one of my faves!
OT:
Cheapest PCB I ever purchased was Konami's turd of a fighter, Martial Champions. I got it for $12 shipped.
