Are there any coming our way? I haven't found any info on anything. Up till now there's always been something coming up in the near future.

I assume you must mean a Japanese budget version? If only we could be so lucky to get a version here in the US.BulletMagnet wrote:The budget version of Homura, if that counts...
I like the idea that Raiden III will be released, but there hasn't been any real news of its release for months. Coincidentally, not much progress has been reported on Raiden III. Its a shame, for I know there are others out there like me who would scarf it up in a heartbeat if it showed promise of high value. That's what I did with Under Defeat--I still have a sealed DC version.

Yeah, though for me this is good, since I only have a JPS2...it would be nice if more people in the US could play it though, at least it sounds that way considering that the game got a pretty warm reception overall around here. IIRC it got a PAL release, but unfortunately the US got shafted again, it'd seem...al138 wrote:I assume you must mean a Japanese budget version? I have a feeling the days of new PS2 shmup ports are coming to an end. Perhaps one of the new next gen hardware consoles will start taking over the port duty, but who knows. Doesn't look very good atm.

I don't know about that completely... with the PS3 on the horizon I think sony will care less about what kind of material comes out on the PS2 and would favor budget releases just like what has happened with the PS1... the simple series kinda goes along with that kind of thinking. Just like the DC... we are still getting shooters on it.

Strider is right.
To bridge the gap of releases in the USA between PS2 and PS3, Sony Computer Entertainment America are considering relaxing the rules they put in place regarding 2D games on PS2 so that they can capitalize on a wealth of releases in the next few months. At the moment, the release schedule on ps2 is spartan.
I wouldn't all jump up and down about Cave releases etc.. But it would seem anything that got a PAL release and is localized in English already will probably get the nod eventually, sooner rather than later.
SNKP are already talking about releasing JP wares in the USA and Sony are probably going to give them the go ahead.
Most of the PAL distribution companies usually distribute to the USA. Since SCEA was and is the last barrier to fall.. well you know the rest....

This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

I have Homura and Raiden III already. I guess we're in a dry spell right now for the PS2. Metal Slug 6 sounds interesting though - I may get that just to have something new.al138 wrote:I assume you must mean a Japanese budget version? I can see that, but I'm talking about actual new shooters (i.e. games that haven't been ported yet). It's cool if the US gets some more trickle down, but a majority of people here have already played these games in their JP, and in some cases PAL, forms so it's nothing to look forward to for them unless they like Xs' productions.neorichieb1971 wrote:Strider is right.
