Re: New shooter from Milestone
Looks like an odd pun... Karasu (the title in katakana) is the Japanese word for crow... plus, there are black feathers as part of the logo.

And while I cannot immediately read the second kanji character (I've been out of country--and practice--for so long now... ), the first character signifies "new" (as in atarashi). I'm excited...Twiddle wrote:well i can make "arcade shooting" out of that japanese text in the image there so yeah

not only that, if they keep the "karous" romanji spelling, it may also pay homage to the legendary "-us" shooting tradition.Kiken wrote:Looks like an odd pun... Karasu (the title in katakana) is the Japanese word for crow... plus, there are black feathers as part of the logo.

Didn't they say that Type X and Atomiswave were not cost effective for small developers as the system boards were not widely used in arcades so the price point made it too high to sell the end game and make enough money back.
This was in Edge (or something similar was in Edge).
Therefore I predict this will be on Naomi unless Sega makes it worth their while and is trying to encourage people towards another board (or Taito for that matter).

Type-X games + boards generally retail for about 310,000 yen. Game only somewhere in the 230,000 yen range if I'm not mistaken. Given that all of them suck in the technical sense, and Type-X was supposed to be some cost-effective invention, I find it a very, very laughable piece of shit as a medium.

Whoa there. That's a big leap in logic to say anything is "confirmed". It's not confirmed for any particular console until we hear a real announcement. And statements that a company is going to develop a game for a console pre-launch often don't work out in the end. Ever see the huge list of confirmed DC developers that never panned out?highlandcattle wrote:It is already confirmed for the Wii I guess, since Mile-stone is developping two games for it. They do seem to have an excellent band with nintendo
Besides, Milestone makes more than just shooters. They're making a crappy looking tank battle game for DS.
If it's that much of a step up, we're talking one of the all time classics here. Considering I think Chaos Field is one of the worst shooters in the past decade, but I love Radilgy .Nullsleep wrote:I will be quite happy if its as much of a step up from Radilgy as Radilgy was from Chaos Field.
Gotta say I'm excited though. Love the logo and name too.

Yeah, and Treasure's next shooting game is "confirmed" for the Xbox360.highlandcattle wrote:It is already confirmed for the Wii I guess, since Mile-stone is developping two games for it. They do seem to have an excellent band with nintendo

My hunch states that the reason G.Rev was forced to port Senko no Ronde to the Xbox 360 was so they had some familiarity with the hardware so they could then make a solid engine for Treasure to work with. With Gradius V, I think they just used the leftover code from G.Darius, as the Vic Viper moves like the Silver Hawk.GaijinPunch wrote:Yeah, and Treasure's next shooting game is "confirmed" for the Xbox360.
Wait a minute, you think Grev was 'forced' to port it to the 360? No one forced them man. Grev does what they want, perhaps MS gave them a bunch of cash for it (I doubt it, it's a niche title), but even then there's no 'forcing' going on. And your whole theory makes little sense as Grev does not equal Treasure. Two separate companies with different business strategies (i.e. Treasure designs games for Sony platforms, while Grev never has and doesn't seem to want to).dai jou bu wrote: My hunch states that the reason G.Rev was forced to port Senko no Ronde to the Xbox 360 was so they had some familiarity with the hardware so they could then make a solid engine for Treasure to work with. That sounds just a tad bit too conspiracy-theoristish to me.My hunch states that the reason G.Rev was forced to port Senko no Ronde to the Xbox 360 was so they had some familiarity with the hardware so they could then make a solid engine for Treasure to work with. Perhaps I should've said, 'G.Rev had more incentive to port the game over to the 360.' The 'forced' thing was meant to be sarcasm, as there's usually a catch when people give you a huge sum of money in order to do something that would've otherwise been impossible to do.twe wrote:Wait a minute, you think Grev was 'forced' to port it to the 360? Thank you for stating the obvious to me about G.Rev not equaling Treasure . G.Rev played a rolein creating the engines for Treasure's last two high-profile shmups, since the way the homing lasers flew in Ikaruga and Gradius V (I have never seen a Gradius boss fire homing lasers like they did in Border Down and Rayforce prior to Treasure's intervetion) and the amount of technical expertise required to pull off those fantastic scrolling effects could only come from Taito's old guard. I'd post the Gradius V credits too, but I'm having problems getting my scanner to work at the moment. =\twe wrote: And your whole theory makes little sense as Grev does not equal Treasure.
