Guwange - (JPN only) GU0707
ESPRADE - (world ver) no serial
ESPGALUDA - (JPN kit) has a sticker reading 'CAVE No. 4673' serial...dunno????
Donpachi - (JPN ver) AD0133 serial??
DoDonpachi (world ver) - no serial it would seem

Sure seems like Japanese releases are the ones likely to bare serial numbers.

Then don't post it. Stupid noobs.

These forums are fairly new. You registered in 2005 for God's sake and you have less than 500 posts. On ANY forum I'd consider you to still be a noob. Whatever, I love shooters, and I love talking about shooters and hearing what others have to say. I made the effort to say not to take serious offense to the comment, yet you guys still got upset. I'm not going anywhere anytime soon, so try to take it easy in the meantime. I'm sorry that you guys still got upset, but you guys still need to loosen up and maybe a need to tighten up a bit as well. Anyhooooooo......

I'm not making any sense of the international serial numbers. The numbers are way to large to be production numbers, so unless someone can discover what the majority of the first digits mean and when the production numbers start I'm stumped. Until this can be clarified I'm only going to post up serials from Japanese boards. They're clearly marked in a coherant manner that can be easily organized. I guess we won't find out the true amount of the game manufactured, but we'll have a close number to How many were made for Japan which is still good information to have.

So do all Japanese serial numbers start with a prefix like "DDP" FOR DoDonpachi, and "GU"? This would make my life easier if so. ;)

These forums were reinstalled earlier this year. The shmups forums have been around since atleast mid-2001 (I'm unsure if they existed before that time), and I know Rob has been around a while, as well as many of the other people currently here.

You're probably right. My apologies. I'm sorry that I upset some of you guys.

Honestly, I have no idea what the purpose of this topic is for. I play shmups because I like them, that's about it. If you want serial numbers for games, just go to a local game store and stare at the backs of the boxes.

Now, if we were talking about the history of a certain brand name of shmups, that'd be different, like which came first, Life Force or R-Type, that sort of thing. Don't go off in a huff over my comments though, I don't have enough money to buy PCBs or Arcade Cabinets or whathaveyou, so I just get what I can get, namely Ports.

If you ask me, collector's value is based on the quality of the game itself, not it's historical significance compared to other models of the shmup of the same title.

Hype or not it's just a game, chill out, okay. :)
The world would be a better place if there were less shooters and more dot-eaters.

Only 12 Cave shooters have been made. It is very logical to not only research just one of their series of games. I'm just doing this for fun and to learn a little something new. Maybe some other people want to learn, have fun, or just gain a buck. Either way I'm stoked some people have participated.

WOAH DUDE!! Please tell me you've put this baby to work for you in commercial cab!!...??

That’s a lot of samolians for just another addition to the collection!!

I must admit it’s the sort of thing that I always find myself torn about, yes I could afford the crazy price of some of these boards when they're new and in regular arcade circulation, but I really should wait till there's one more title in the Cave catalogue before taking the plunge as at least the price should be a little more realistic!! Though I did pay US$415 for GALUDA though at the time the going rate was around US$525 typically, so that was enough justification for me, not the wife though, she doesn't know hehe…hmm...

Well my credit card is feeling the strain at the moment, but I've been playing it for a bit since it arrived and I love it to bits. Worth every invested penny, and it'll take a fair bit to prise it out of my hands now that I have it ;) You only live once, might as well make the most of it. ;)

And I'd never stuff this into a commercial cab. Not unless the arcade it was in was well maintained, the engineers took great care of everything, and they paid me back the price I paid for it if they broke it :P.

Man you're the sort of encouragement I just don't need right now!! I've been weighing up a Mushi purchase currently, but so far I've been able fight off the urge.

AAAARGH!! The un-ending torment...must...fight it...

Hot damn! Let me be the first to say that, that is B-E-A-Utiful! Ibara is a very fun game, and quite a change from the traditional Cave shooter. Congrats.

Feveron - DF0068 [pic]
Guwange - GU0813 / No. 046605 [pic]
Ketsui - CAVE No. 2923 [pic]

conversely, the serial on Feveron is kinda low.

As long as we're digging this up...

Donpachi (Japan): AD0197 (I'm guessing on the first letter based on other posts, that part of the label is missing on my board)
Dodonpachi (International): No serial (there is a sticker with 257859 on it, but I think it got added later.)

Do you realise that production numbers have virtually nothing to do with serial numbers? This proves -absolutely nothing-, here are some examples:

1) Companies sometimes start the serial number high - there are various reasons for this, one of them is to specifically obscure public information on production and sales levels.... This was normal practise in arcadeland for many years..

2) Runs typically start at different boundaries, and we don't know how big any particular run is.

3) On boards with common hardware, the serial number is more usually allocated on a per board basis regardless of the game on it.

The best way, if possible, would be to make friends with someone in a factory who prints the extras, and see how many were ordered ;-)

@bloodflowers: I didn't know that stuff, it's interesting! The only reason I'm posting my serial numbers is because it's the one thing that really makes everyone's boards unique. Unlike console games which all have the same packaging, UPC, etc, PCBs have this code to show each is slightly unique. I'm sure some arcade companies actually do print serials in accordance with production run numbers, and that's interesting in its own right as well. Anyway, it's just for fun really. :D

Someone should start a trace spreadsheet so you can see who owned what PCB at any given time.. Like an auto/car history program

i actually like to know where my boards/items/games come from and who owned them. it's like a car, it's nice to know that the previous owner took care of the car, where it was located, how many miles were put on it, any maintenance records, etc.
