Well, the competition just started so it wouldn't be that much of a problem to add you to, CRI. Though you know you are joining as a teammember of the entire competition and not only for this game.

I'll ask some other teams if they add you into their team.

And when you update your scores, please don't edit your previous posts. I probably wouldn't notice the edits as I am looking for all new posts to update the scoretable. And it won't hurt the thread if you post your progress several times.

Someone asked via pm how to set up autofire in this game. As you need the rapid shot, but also need the possibility to keep a button pushed to charge that... uhm... chaining weapon - R-Type Shot thingie...

And in case someone else is wondering, here's a short explanation how I set it up in Mame32Plus 0.106: (there may by other good / better solutions)

When you are in the game you press TAB to open the menu, now you enter the "Autofire Setting" and switch the option P1 Button 1 to "Toggle". Now escape this menu and enter the "Input (this game)" menu. Where you go to the option "P1 Toggle Autofire" and set a button to this function. (I took the R1 button). Now everytime you press this button you'll switch Autofire on or off. You may need 1, 2 credits to get used to this control scheme. But it gets pretty intuitive after a few tries.

Don't let this encourage you. If you keep collecting these blue bonus orbs their value increases all the time. If you get to stage 3 boss without dropping the value, that'ss where your score starts to explode.

Here's my progress so far:

...maybe I should try another ship. Aryustailm is very good for chaining. But also using this melee attack can easily end in suicides.

I had a better score on stage *3* earlier, but MAME crashed when I pressed F12 to take a screenshot, and NVRAM apparently didn't get saved when that happened. ;_;

And I agree, entry to the competiton should be closed now. People had nearly a month to sign up to play already, no excuses.

Hmm, I guess you are right...
Letting CRI join was a controversial decision for me, but back then I thought I don't want to bitch around to keep the rules. Seeing that other members think this is unfair. I think your point is valid and so we can't count CRI's score. He may still post his efforts in this thread, but he ain't an official member then. Esspecially since CRI just entered because we played Blazing Star, where originally all other participants don't know if we play games they are already very good at.

Well I still don't feel like a hero as I can understand CRI's dissapointment in this decission...
