Raid over the River for the DS video

Post by sega-trader »

Here is a short video for Raid Over The River coming soon to the Nintendo DS. Looks amazing. Hopefully it will be better the Nanostray.

Holy crap does that look awesome. Even TATE!
What graphics, lets just hope the gameplay is up to par.
Even if it is a tech demo.

Well I'll be jiggered....it IS a shmup. Not half bad looking either.....for the DS, at least.

 Woah, can't wait for this. Definitely looks like it's being controlled with the stylus there.

Y.U.M.M.Y!

Honnestly, I simply look awesome. This game is already mine. A WW2-based shmup with beautiful graphics on DS, that's all good in my books.

But I have read it's not WW2 shmup. It has some kind of past-to-the-future storyline. But yes it includes WW2 theme. I've also read that the desingn of the ship depends about the theme. But not sure, not sure at all.

I just can't get over the huge gap in the middle...

Sonic on the DS has the vertical 2 screen setup and you get used to it.

That looks GREAT!

I may have to get a DS sooner or later..

I was going to get one for Lunar: Dragon Song but I guess that didn't turn out to be that good of a game

WOW! :D Those have to be the best looking graphics on the DS to date! Absolutely amazing!

I don't mind the 2 screen set-up, but having to control your fighter with the stylus might kill this one for me. Part of the reason why I got rid of my original DS was the unresponsiveness of this device; it was worst in Pac Pix, but not that much better in other DS games. Haven't used the stylus on the DS Lite, which is supposed to have been redesigned, so maybe that's better.

Wow, I haven't had any problems with touchscreen responsiveness. Granted, I haven't played Pac Pix. But Metroid Prime: Hunters, New SMB, Resident Evil DS, Castlevania DoS, and Nanostray are all perfectly responsive for me.

Have they said you can play with the Dpad buttons or do you have to play with the stylus?

Anyways, looks great. Very nice Strikers feel to the visuals.

hopefully this is the sign of good things to come for the Wii in terms of shmups and good ol' fashioned gameplay. I'm just worried about that gap.

I posted the following over there:

I prefer the second screen. I love my vertical shooters with a long display, but it looks plain silly when there's a huge gap in the middle. What would happen if you stand in the middle of the screen? Will your ship be magically split between the two screens? Same with the enemies and bullets. Oh, and try not to make the same mistakes as Shin'en, don't use any touch screen functionality.

Why not make a horizontal Shmup next? The DS screens are better suited for horizontal Shmups anyways.

Well, out of all those games, I've only played Nanostray, which was fine, in terms of touch responsiveness.

Hmmm, the game will ofcourse not be played exclusiveley with a Stylus, perhaps they'll make it an option. and the gap between the two screens is bigger on a real DS.
It does look great, the WWII scenes are nice, but will the other time stages suck? They should've just made a WWII themed shooter. We already have Gekerindan for different times and it doesn't work for me.
Looks very promising!

Sky Soliders is another time-traveling shmup.

And yeah, this game looks awesome!! I don't mind the time travel theme; it adds variety.

I'll be the naysayer and say it'll probably turn out average like Nanostray did. Yep, we're getting too hyped.

Depends, was Nanostray made by a Japanese company?
Is this game made by one?

Raid Over The River is being developed by Nibris, a Polish company.
