Gradius III (arcade) secret level and other shot (~30 pics)

I had no idea there was a 2nd secret level in the arcade Gradius III. The first I knew was obtained by being hit by one of the 3 balls the last guy shoots out. It brings you to Gradius I's first stage.

Well, if you can complete it, you will be brought back to the last level of the game where you can be hit again by one of the 3 shots (upper one) of the last guy. It then brings you to a stage much like Lifeforce/Salamander.

None of these are my gameplay, it's from a mame replay ... a damned good one. The player gets to 3-3.

I didn't grab any screenshots of the 1st secret stage. But here is the 2nd:

holy crap is all i have to say. i have trouble getting into stage 5 on the snes. of course i suck, but man that is still impressive (the replay, not me).

I believe PS2 save those two stages in a special menu if you access to them.
