79 members, 15 teams so far. It will be a blast for sure.
"So, Shatterhand, what you expect from this clash of titans?"
"Well, I think it will be a hell of competition. I'll try to give my best to help my team, and hope we can reach the 1st spot. I have respect for all my opponents, but I think we can do better than all of them."

I like that guy. I only uploaded my Ketsui videos in the middle of the night, and just a few hours later he's already got them linked on his site. I don't think I'd use up any bandwidth if it wasn't for him.GaijinPunch wrote:It's worth noting that the admin of Danmaku-gata has linked this thread in his news. Yeah he's cool. Not only does he list all the latest pro and doujin releases, he's also keeping track of new replays as well. Just scoping through his old logs and I came across my Darius Gaiden ALL entry, and several older releases by other forum members.MrMonkeyMan wrote:I like that guy. Looks like we will be watched closely during the running of the tournament. ^_^

We're currently working to see if we can add D-ku BON and D-ku NEO to the Mixed European team, so we are 7, which is the maximum number. We're soon to get a name btw, currently working on this.
EDIT: And btw, we decided to keep our shmups.com names for more readability. Super L is ok so please add Gion and NeoCPS2 in the soon-to-be-changed Mixed European Team Edge.

Awesome, thanks for putting me on a team!
I made two logos to represent Team Canada. You'll notice that, other than the maple leaf beside the team name, they are not overwhelmingly "Canadian". Don't know if this is an issue, but I couldn't come up with any good thematic ideas.

Tell me what you guys think, and feel free to make your own! These are just suggestions.

Ack, we have way too many good ones for our team...use whichever you like best.Edge wrote:I'll do so, but it seems you guys haven't really decided for your logos yet... ? Maybe sent me a pm, whenever you have finalized your logo.

Hee hee, thanks. Some time ago (perhaps before you joined) Mr. Coyote himself served as my avatar here, I figured it'd be good to bring him back for a bit.NRS wrote:Ha ha! "Help" indeed. Nice one!

Hee hee, maybe I can make something of it, thanks.DEL wrote:Errm....BulletMagnet, any use to you?

I think the one with the snowy background actually works pretty well.Galdur wrote:I made two logos to represent Team Canada. It's one of the few non-forum sites I visit daily. Painstaking work. Hopefully he won't quit.Icarus wrote:Yeah he's cool. Not only does he list all the latest pro and doujin releases,

EDIT:
To both MMM and Icarus, your input is wanted here.

Those look nice! I really like the lighter colours. I'm going to whip up a few myself. Hope I can equal your impressive designs.Galdur wrote:Awesome, thanks for putting me on a team!

Can we suggest games?
I just found out in Mame an horizontal shmup which is very score-centric:Super Spacefortress Macross II .
It even plays much like a caravan game, in each level you have a time to make a certain score... even if you manage to beat the boss and still have some time , the level keeps going on, so you can rack up more points.
I played it only for a few minutes, the game has 3 courses, I dunno if you can only play through one course, or if you finish one course, you go to another one (Each course seems to have only 3 levels!)
And we should have the rules very clear before the tournament begins. Will we accept auto-fire or not? What about games with infinite loops, should we accept scores from just the 1st loop, or any score is accepted?

You can enable autofire in MAME32+, by the way. ^_-
Yeah, and I'd prefer if auto usage is clarified before the start of each game week. I'm not keen on a repeat of what happened in the last smeet when I submitted an autofire-assisted score. ^_-
(And I agree, SSF-Macross 2 is indeed teh awsum. Haven't played it in a while though, but good for a score compo.)

Yeah, the first post is up to date. For the team rankings only the best 3 scores of one team count. So teamsizes of 7 players might be a bit stressful for some teammembers, it might be possible to start new teams out of people who don't want to stay on the big teams...? Team Ronin or something... is someone interested in such a new team?freddiebamboo wrote:Did the scoring system get decided on?
Just noticed the one on the front page that only submits the top 3 from each team.
Regarding the scoresystem, I will also add seperate all player rankings. The final "score-value-breakdown-thingie" (how many points you get for each position) depends on the number of participating teams. I made the example below for 10 teams. The scoring will look kinda similiar, but only suited for 45 players or how many teams it will be in the end.

Code: Select all
Tier 1
1st 60 pts
2nd 50 pts
3rd 45 pts
Tier 2
4th 40 pts
5th 36 pts
6th 33 pts
7th 30 pts
8th 27 pts
Tier 3
9th 24 pts
10th 22 pts
11th 20 pts
12th 18 pts
13th 16 pts
14th 14 pts
Tier 4
15th 12 pts
16th 11 pts
17th 10 pts
18th 9 pts
18th 8 pts
20th 7 pts
21st 6 pts
Tier 5
22nd 5 pts
23rd 5 pts
24th 4 pts
25th 4 pts
26th 3 pts
27th 3 pts
28th 2 pts
29th 2 pts
30th 1 pt

Uhm... I wasn't sure if you are serious. So do you like to join the competition...?

Autofire and Unlimited Loops:
I agree with Icarus that auto fire allowance should depend on the game. Where on the other hand I am not thinking to limit multilooping games to just 1 loop. Gradius maybe get boring if you can loop it unlimited times, but killing yourself in certain stages and finishing one loop with the last life sounds like less fun to me. However everything can and should be put into consideration. Therefore on the voting thread all rules for the games (on the poll) can be discussed. That we have solid rules when the actual competition start.

Bunch of badges for Team Germany (thanks to namagomi for the third one):

I think that this song should be our team anthem.
