Triple post

Randorama - 770,100,000 - stage 4 - EHH - 64

I need to post something in the RQ thread, but i have also spammed something in my journal (link is in the signature). Without a doubt, this game is growing in me, and i have to say that absolutely and pleasantly surprised :D

TWE - 1,173,882,000 - Stage 4 - EHH - 69

Enough for 1st place, but I ended my game at the start of the 4th boss fight, so the quest for a 1CC continues

Eh, you're the man to beat now, uh?

At any case, It is pretty clear that the fourth stage is the real goldmine of the game, i think that something like 1B is doable (The final boss alone allows for , i think, at least 10 slashes in the 30M range). I still have to see the final boss, though :?

Hmm. I'd say 2B+ overall scores will likely turn up as the tops soon in Japan (unless they have already, I can't find this info anywhere!). I think that's probably the limit of the game. Maybe 2.5 billion if there is some underlying, semi-secret, advanced multiplier-raising technique we've all been missing. I don't know what bonuses you get for spare lives or spare bombs (if any).

1B on Stage 4 is probably about right. The problem is maxing out the multiplier to 60+ at key sections and getting through the big enemies in subsequent sections without a chain slash (which kills your multiplier and your score), and rather using regular bullet slashes and pure firepower.
Easier said than done, but I found a way to do it on LV3 Hard (granted I die in the process 50% of the time :? ) so LV4 should just be a slightly more difficult, natural extension of the process.

On my high score I missed 40 mil I usually get in Stage 3 via stupid mistakes (I normally end Stage 3 with ~740 mil, but on this run it was 695 mil). So 1.2 billion is foreseeable for me quite soon. A more finely tuned Stage 4 score (I'm getting close) + a 1CC would lead myself to a potential 1.3~1.4 billion score, based on my current strats.

Randorama - 810,100,400 - Stage 4 - EHH - 67

I have been able to place one final good chain, at the beginning the fourth stage, before dying like a cretin. My score was around 720M at the beginning of the stage...

I think that 1B before the fourth stage is doable as well. The sequence should be: 350 - 350 - 300 (M). First stage is definitely doable, Second stage seems difficult but doable as well (i think that it has to do with the boss), and third stage must have a way to get a good multiplier going in the second part, with a quick kill on the second boss. So, the final score could be something like 2,x B (x being the score doable on the final boss).

I will post a more detailed gamingjournal entry tomorrow, at any case.

Congratulations! ^_^

What attacks are you guys having trouble with at the fourth stage boss?

My main problem is I always seem to get there with 1 or 2 lives left, and often no bombs (or just a couple). I have problems with the end of the first phase attacks, and most of the second phase. I think if I stopped thinking about score I could get to the end with at least 3 lives left and most of my bombs, and could get through it. But the scorer in me finds that concession hard to swallow. I hope I will get consistent enough with my patterns (and stop relying on bombs in certain areas) to get to the end with enough lives to beat the boss as well as to have a good score with it.

However, with my current workload, Radilgy arriving by the end of the week along with the Mushi superplay DVD (which may or may not get me back into playing Mushi for score), not to mention Ibara the following week, I'm not sure how much time I will devote to Homura in the near-future.

A new target to aim at.

TWE - 1,274,118,000 - Stage 4 - EHH - 71

Lost my last life in the usual spot (beginning of 4th boss fight).
Still plenty more points to be had. With a bit more practice I'm fairly sure I'll be able to get 1.3-1.4 billion going into the 4th boss fight.

Randorama - 1,280,571,000 - Stage 4 - EHH - 79

It is really important to blow up the red dragons in the second part, as they release a ton of bullets and can be used wipe out the gray dragons, and so on. I still have no clue on how to approach the whole third stage, though.I think that there is room for a +50 chain in both halves, thus making scoring much better, but how...

EDIT:

Eh, i decided to get another run after a Raiden III session and nailed an even better run. I also had a rather liberal use of bombs, but i can see with some practice a 1,4B after the fourth boss, even more (1,6B, for istance). Of course, there is much to do on the last two bosses, but i begin to see the right slashes and reflects on the final stage...

...your turn twe

I didn't even make it to the boss this time! Ended my game in the section right before the boss. So close to 1.3 billion, one more enemy shot down would have pushed me over. :( Ah well, there's always the next run.

Over to you Rando. :)

Dial911 - 1,112,531,000 - Stage 4 - EHE - 64

I'm so unbelievably close to beating the game at this point. What pisses me off the most is that I push my limits too much. I keep getting gameovers with 2 or 3 bombs in stock which drives me absolutely mad! Anyways...... fuck it, at least I broke 1,000,000,000.
What more can I say I wouldn't be here today if the old school didn't pave the way.

Randorama - 1,411,100,100 - Stage 4 - EHH - 78

Whooo! I'm consistently getting 340M - 300 M - 150 M on first three stages, but i need to sit down and calm a bit on the fourth boss. Now, i'm pretty sure that the fourth stage itself gives more than 1B, though, as the upper limit for the first part seems to be 350M, then 70M for the mid-boss, another 350M for the second half, 60M of end-of-stage bonus...and i would say another 300M or so of boss, *at least*. Entering the secret final boss with a x60 at least...uhm, another 300M?

Lot of improvements to do, still

Hi !

I have a question about the default settings:
Do you have 2 or 3 lives ?
2 smartbombs ?

I have played the Taito Type X Version with 2 lives and 2 smartbombs activated on my machine.

Score:
320 millions stage 3

Greetings

New score. My best run yet. Managed to get to the 4th stage boss and was promptly slaughtered.

Acid King - 1.209.064.000 - Stage 4 - EHH - 64

This game doesn't get nearly enough attention at this forum.
Feedback will set you free.

What exactly was the path you took?

If you reached Stage 3 you must've gone through at least two brances in the path - there's one in each stage. We're not talking about difficulty level you set in options screen here, but the choice between left and right that happens about mid-way through each stage.

It is, and in that case you should've posted the path as EEE to make it clearer. Oh well, matter solved now.

Sword - 280.025.000 - Stage 2 - EE

Got the PAL version last week. Fantastic game (cheap, too).
Only annoyance so far is that you have stop shooting to bomb.

Here´s an old score:

1,474,925,000 - Stage 5 - EHH - 77 - JAV

First stage 320 M. I never managed to clear this one on a scoring run. Would love to watch a super play to see how an extra 1B is possible.

If somebody wants to take over the updating duties for this thread, let me know. I don't really play the game anymore so it's bit of a chore.

G19 - 327,749,000 - Stage 3 - EEE

*PIC*

Only played this for couple hours but I'm hooked already. Playing for survival this is mediocre, but playing for score it's addictive as hell. Will improve score a.s.a.p.
