Play Asia seems to be taking orders for the OST now if anyone is interested. I'm curious how many copies they got.

wow! i just read this on the cave site...though i'm not sure they actually reprinted it but instead i think they are selling their last remaining stock. this still sadly means that i won't be getting any.GaijinPunch wrote:I would assume a few hundred.
Also seems like Cave came around and printed some up for Japan (same w/ the replay DVD). Who knows.
i did order the OST.

I'm on the fence. I'm kinda wondering if it's worth waiting for a bit more of a price drop.twe wrote:Excellentcom is now offering a Brand New Boxed Espgaluda II kit + poster for only $716. That's a killer deal. I just ordered mine last night.
Also I assume as soon as I order it, a port will get announced.
I don't think it will drop much more before it sells out, a la Mushi. It's a very popular game. I wouldn't be surprised if Excellent sells out all their new kits at $716 within the next month. I can see Pink Sweets kits (brand new) dropping to current Ibara levels (still just $373 at Excellentcom) in 6-8 months. That game isn't very popular.
And at this point I doubt there will be any port of Galuda II, or if there is one, it won't be too hot. Galuda II has too much going on with the bullet speeds. It would be really hard to duplicate that accurately on a PS2. Not impossible, it would just take a lot of time to code and test and I doubt Cave would spend money on that. They'd just do a quicky port at best, with all sorts of jerky bullet patterns of unpredictable speeds. Arika could do it, but by all indications they aren't doing Cave ports any more so it's a moot point.

It strange that the avaliability of a port would depends on whether you got the PCB or not....zakk wrote:Also I assume as soon as I order it, a port will get announced.
Anyway, Order it then, zakk , so that the rest of us could get a port.
So this becomes another PCB on the MUST BUY list, OMG.GaijinPunch wrote:I think a port is now very unlikely. The popularity of the game has obviously dwindled, as new shooting games have come in it's place. The ideal time for a port would've been... well... now, but it's not even announced.
*Meow* I am as serious as a cat could possible be. *Meow*
i think itll drop even further, i asked yumi last week and they had an excess of 200 kits in stock.twe wrote:I don't think it will drop much more before it sells out, a la Mushi. .
they also STILL had 50 brand new Ibaras in spite of their price only being JPY33K...
might not sound like big figures but concidering their entire clientel pretty much resides on these boards it'll take a long time to sell out +200 boards...
i know excellent dont stock quite as much, but im sure they have atleast 10 in stock..?
the destruction of everything, is the beginning of something new. your whole world is on fire, and soon, you'll be too..
fujita communications
yeah i know they distribute to arcades aswell, but galuda 2 (and certanly Ibara) are both pretty "old" games, im sure most asian arcades already have their copy.
ed: sorry i lied in my previous post, fujita "only" have 158 galuda 2 kits left...

The absence of a Espgaluda II port is concerning considering it’s popularity. I wonder if the lack of port is due to lack of profitability of recent Taito published ports (Mushi, Ibara, Raiden III, Giga Wing Generation, Shiki II, Shooting collection I&II, Gunbird collection, etc.). I've been spoiled from so many published ports or re-issues from Taito over the last two years and now almost nothing is coming out.
@sven666. So is Fujita like the main distributor in Japan? As in when they're out, the game is sold out?
@Wanderer. Who knows, maybe there will be a PS3 or Xbox360 port. Cave will have to change from the PS2 to another 'next gen' console for their ports eventually, maybe they're thinking of doing that soon?

twe> yepp pretty much. I dont know how many companies they distribute for but Cave/AMI is one of them anyways. (which is why they often put cave games up for preorder way before any info on the game itself is released, see mushi 2 thread for instance)...

I get the impression AMI are very good at what they do. I've had a couple of emails from Joey @ ECL suggesting they have a good relationship with AMI as well. I bet they shift a lot for them in HK.
I'm quite sure Cave are aware of the unusually high volume that go to home gamers overseas too. Hence why they supply Play Asia with OST's etc.

I totally agree.I'm surprised this hasn't got shmup fans very worried about the future of the scene.Cave has to know that dedicated fans are salivating over this release....but they aren't porting, which has to mean they don't see it as profitable.Wanderer wrote:The absence of a Espgaluda II port is concerning considering it’s popularity.
Maybe a petition would help?I for one cannot afford to become a PCB player/collector right now,and shmupping is only part of my gaming diet,so ports are my mainstay.
Seems to me that the shmup scene is growing quickly.Guess Cave disagrees.
Now playing:

Just received the OST today. As expected, the sountrack is pure quality trance/techno, just the stuff I like. ^_^
Presentation of the package is very high quality, in a clear case like Senko no Ronde. Even the front cover design is two-piece, with a clear plastic illustration of both forms of Asagi. Even the spine is clear plastic.
The music is awesome. I'm loving the higher quality versions of Azures (stage2), Deserted (stage3) and Kujaku (final boss). Haven't listened to the AST disc yet, too engrossed in the OST at the moment. ^_^
Get it if you can find it!
NOW WHERE'S THE PORT DAMNIT?!

Highly doubtful. Console ports aren't announced at AOU, and so far neither Taito, Cave, nor Arika are on the list of companies at the TGS.
And anyway, if they're going to release a port it's going to be within 7-9 months of the PCB's release, like all the previous cave ports. It's already been nearly 9 months since Galuda 2 was released and we don't even have a port announcement let alone a release date.
New PCB kits should drop to the $600 level in about a month (Excellentcom tells me they have 'many to offer' at the moment, priced at $716).
