I thought I was from London, but I'm happy to be in the other UK team to improve DEL/Icarus' teams chances of success

We haven't yet decided how to split team UK.

You think we should do this with tiers? Or trying to base it on some regionals?

I'm happy that I've been chosen for the UK 'Team 1' ;) and I hope it helps our chances of doing well too. I think the tier teams is a better idea, but its all for fun anyway.

I'm fine with however you guys want to chop up the UK. ^_-
Given the way the teams are organised at the moment, I'd say Team Cowboy are looking dangerous, despite being a quartet at present, but there are quite a good number of strong teams. This should be interesting. ^_-
DEL wrote:Considering the size and complexity of your 60 member scoring calculation proposal I'd say that you more than "prefer just to play"
That was just a silly idea I had late at night. It probably won't be used, but I thought it might add a little excitement and competition between players for both self and team glory. No one wants to be relegated, no matter what kind of league sport you're in. ^_-
DEL wrote:Unlike myself, you also have previous Smeet experience^_-
I just like to compete. ^_-

Besides, you're part of the London scene. Its like a non-stop competition for scores and records down there. The closest thing I have to that kind of scene up here is cold cold Geordieland is... well... this forum. -_-;;

If we start this monday, my team might be at a disadvantage because I'm am going to be out of town til wednesday. You east coast cats might have to drop me from the first weeks set of players. Hopefully things won't be cleared up til after monday so i won't lose any time.
Feedback will set you free.

I'm happy with the UK teams anyway they are cut up.

A London centric team would most likely wipe the floor with everyone else's arse on account of them actually having arcades to go to, unlike us up here in the North East who have nowt.

Cheers

Sounds good to me, it gives time to decide on the running order for each stage, allocate the first stage/game, most importantly once everything is sorted out message everyone with a 24h warning that the comp is ON.

Plus I aint near a pad or stick 'til thursday. Friday sounds great!.

So do we have working lists of teams/members? I'm curious about my fellow Ohioans, crithit and nemo. Did we end up on the same team? That would help make up for the lack of an Ohio shmup meet.

Working teams and their members are in the first post of this thread.

The startdate of this competition is: Monday, 21st August.

I am going to write every teammember an approval pm.
To all teams with 4 players on it. Do you have any idea who could be interested to join you as a 5th player?

Oh, and at the UK top tier team (4 members, who from the UK lower Tier (6 members) would you like to take in your upper team?

EDIT:
Oh, and I think I'll name it similiar to NTSC-J's ideas:
"Shooting Game Tournament 2006" or STG Tournament 2006 with the acronym STGT 2006.

You don't NEED 5 players. I just would reccomend it is a good idea to stock your teams with 5 players. Because it maybe that 2 players can't participate (don't have the game/have no time). But 4 is fine, if you'd like to stay with your team as it is now. :)

So is there any chance that the games will be revealed in advance? I donno about the rest of the people on here but it would sure help if i knew in advance so i could purchase games if needed...I hope i dont have to sit a lot of the compitition out because i dont have the games...I guess it would give some people a chance to practise cames though so mabey i should just get the games emulated.

I think we'll be selecting games based on how easy they are to emulate. That should allow everyone a chance to play the games and participate. Use of ports of particular games, or PCBs are also allowed where appropriate. ^_-

As for knowing in advance... naah, I like surprises. Gives me less chance to prepare. ^_-

I'd like to propose that my team (Ohio/Midwest/Middle/Flyover/Whatever) be officially called Team Wal*Mart or something else more appropriate. Like, Super Buffet Sitting Turbo or something. SERIOUSLY.

Call my team "Team Hangover". I'm going to make sure I have a killer one when all this is over. ^_-

This thread has gotten huge, so I'm a bit lost on what team is what.

I know that Nemo wanted me for a team, and I saw Rob mention my name. As long as there's still space, I'M GAME.

EDIT: Location is USA... fake USA!

I was serious in a joking manner, or something. Plus, I'm horrible at naming things. I mean, I shelled out money for a domain called letsdestroytheinternet of all things.

But I think it's a good idea to come up with ridiculous names for teams as it could keep some parts of this a little lighthearted and all in fun. Logos and graphics are also a cool idea.
