Donpachi sound emulation on MAME
Hi,
There is a post on MAME Testers regarding problems with Donpachi sound. Can someone with the real game please provide some input?

Those sound an awful lot like problems associated with DDP2...AFAIK, Donpachi is horribly mutilated on Mame. My ROM has disappearing sprites, does not display bullets and the sound doesn't work. I've always wondered what was wrong with that one.
Do you have a relatively new version of Mame? Have you tried downloading Donpachi again?

DDP2 is prelim. It works but there are problems with it. You can check driver status on the MAWS database at http://www.mameworld.net/maws/

Donpachi PCB has multiple high/low volume points, fairly annoying really.

From AWJ at mameforums.Yes, the PCB really does sound like that--AM-radio quality, skips, and all. In fact, one of the recurring questions on the Hardware forum at shmups.com is "I just bought [insert title of 16-bit Atlus/Cave game]; is there something wrong with my PCB or my harness, or is it actually supposed to sound this bad?"
Basically Cave used crappy sound hardware (understandable since you can't really hear a damn thing in arcades anyway) but this means the ports have better music than the PCB.

Now here's a question: What is the noisiest thing in the arcade?Neon wrote: Basically Cave used crappy sound hardware (understandable since you can't really hear a damn thing in arcades anyway) but this means the ports have better music than the PCB.
I think it's the DDR and Fighting games.

that's why I would go to Aladin's Castle and get the early bird special. $5 worth of tokens for $2. Play till noon and sell $2 worth to some other kid.ASK wrote:Children crying as they realize they spent all their money and have nothing to show for it besides carpal tunnel syndrome?FatCobra wrote:Now here's a question: What is the noisiest thing in the arcade?![]()
