Favorite Toaplan songs?

Post by Skyknight »

Okay, now that I've ferreted out your opinions for TecnoSoft (for once with Elemental Master's music to refer to), time for another company to work with...

In my case...

Sky Shark:
--"Against the Attack" (st. 2; Raiden fans take note that this game came out first)
--"Water Front" (st. 3)
--"Behind the Bush" (st. 4)

Twin Cobra:
--"Over the Sea" (st. 2)
--"Tsugaru" (st. 4)

Tatsujin:
--"Sally" (st. 2)
--"Friend" (st. 4)

Hellfire:
--"Jumping Roll" (st. 3)
--"Mystic Green" (st. 4; Raiden fans take note again)
--"Inside Drive" (st. 5)

Zero Wing:
--"New Day for Me" (st. 2)
--"Old Sense" (st. 5)
--"New Say" (st. 6)
--"Same One" (st. 7)

Vimana:
--"Space High" (st. 1)
--"The Power of Darkness" (boss)
--"Bit Man" (st. 4)
--"Rekka no Gotoku" (st. 5)

Fire Shark:
--"Sadness in Your Eyes" (st. 4)
--"From the Sun to Me" (st. 5)

Tatsujin-Ou:
--"I Defend STM" (st. 2)
--"No Delusion" (st. 4)
--"Still Love You" (st. 5)

Dogyuun:
--Theme of Boss
--"Power On" (st. 2 and 7)
--"Onmoroid Boogie" (st. 4 and 9)
--"Gamusha Rhythm" (st. 5 and 10)

V-Five:
--"Night Bird" (boss)
--"Large Charge" (st. 3)
--"Repercussion" (st. 5)

Batsugun:
--"King Bird" (boss 2; on a side note, from what I know of the bosses, I'm wondering if the order might have been mixed up for bosses 2-4. I have a feeling that Madzilla should have gotten "Psycho Paranoia", Mad Steel Darkness "Yokan", and Jupiter "King Bird")
--"Bomber Dance" (st. 3)
--"Complimentary Ticket" (st. 4)
--"Yokan" (boss 4)

The short tune during take-off in Twin Hawk really sticks with me.

Otherwise I like what Batsugun has to offer and Fire Shark too.

The stage 4 tune in Batsugun is so unabashedly cheesy you just have to love it, especially when it fits the overall atmosphere of the game so well.

Yeah, batsugun and fireshark for me have the best soundtracks, though I remember liking Truxton 2 (haven't booted up mame for a long time...) I made a cd-r of the batsugun soundtrack at some point, and really, the whole thing is great!

Hellfire for me - very bass-heavy and pumping, which I like.

The Batsugun soundtrack doesn't do much for me.

Sky Shark:
* Stage 2
* Stage 4

(This is one great soundtrack that the NES version horribly mangles.)

Twin Cobra:
* Over the Sea (Stages 2 & 7)
* Tsugaru (Stages 4 & 9)

Zero Wing:
* Stage 1

Fire Shark:
Stage 1 / 6 BGM
Stage 5 / 10 BGM

Tatsujin-ou:
Stage 1 BGM
"I Defend STM" (stage 2)
"No Delusion" (stage 4)
"Heavy Long" (Boss)

Hellfire:
Stages 1 & 3
Kinect? KIN NOT.

"No Delusion" is easily the best work ever by Masahiro Yuge, Uemura's work on Flying Shark (stage 5 especially) is ace.

Many Toaplan games have excellent music, but I'll always have a soft spot for Twin Cobra, as its the first Toaplan game I played in the arcade back in the day. Tsugaru is my favorite of its tunes by far...its so driving and energetic...a great motivator after making it to stage four.
