That's how I thought you got the big medals but wasn't sure, you see I thought that's how you got the 1up.So just out of curoisty how do you get the 1up in that same stage?
And yes it's the red lamp thanks.
I did great so much water and milk that I threw up when I was little.
The 1up won't appear there unless you're on your last life. I always interpreted that as Takumi mocking the player for dying so much, heh heh. "Oh, poor thing, you need some help with skills like that, don't you?"

The 1UP in Mars Matrix has gotta be rare also, right? I was playing last night and it popped up out of nowhere in the beginning of stage 4. I can't remember seeing it that much in the game, as long as I've had it.
Tyrian has loads of rare items. More to the point, items that are only available in one level, or sometimes weapons or ship upgrades that can only be purchased at certain shops from certain secret levels. Not to mention secret levels that can only be access from w/in other secret levels.

I remember a one time I caught an item that give a maximum shot or shield, but the same item it appeared again in another stage and when I caught a so much itens they had started to appear.
Lives in G-Darius. They appear in every Fourth level, I think. They're pretty hidden so you have to shoot around and hope you find them. I was puzzled for the longest time as to what they were until I read a FAQ. It's supposed to be a bubble with a tiny Silver Hawk inside but looks like a bubble with three little balls.
"Sooo, what was it that you consider a 'good salary' for a man to make?"
"They should at least make 100K to have a good life"
...

I know some of the Gaiares weapons are very rare.
Of course, there's only one 1UP item in Ibara.
The A-Bullet in Gaiares is one I've only chanced upon occasionally. Same goes for F-Formation and T-Vulcan. T-Braster isn't too rare since you just shoot the TOZ 6 times and then capture something on the next launch.
There has to be some way to get the first three reliably.

Yup. I forgot about those. Something similar also appears in Darius Gaiden, IIRC. You have to shoot them out as well. They're the silver shields, if I'm not mistaking.
I really enjoy shooting down the little fighter on the runway in stage 2 of Batsugun, great way to cut your teeth on some extra points early on. Seconded on Radiant's doggies. And it's always fun finding the 'lil dragon and fairy in Raiden.

Speaking of Raiden, did anyone else ever find a 1up in that game? I swear I've seen it once.
You know how those pigs pop up in Batsugun? Well, I was playing playing today, and in the 2nd loop, during stage 7 (originally stage 3), a pink pig popped up. Only one pink pig. And I couldn't even pick it up. It just stayed put. What's up with that?

Check the Batsugun ST for info on how to trigger the pigs (I can only wonder if anyone would have ever figured it out without such a guide...). As for what they do, as you hover over them they continually increase your experience.
