Use the Strategy Forum Index, there's a ton of Esprade-specific threads listed there.

In short:

When you hit an enemy with your "piercing shot" (B button) the shots turn into "bubbles": destroy the enemy with your main shot (A button) while the "bubbles" are happening and the enemy's value is multiplied (you'll see "x 4" or "x 10" or whatever applies appear right over the enemy when it's destroyed...I think the maximum, when you're fully powered up, is x 16). For a very short time after the first enemy is destroyed, any other enemies you destroy with the main shot are also multiplied: the larger the enemy you use the piercing shot on, the longer it lasts. Basically, what you want to do is hit a large enemy which takes a chunk of damage before going down with the piercing shot, and finish it off with the regular shot at the moment when the most "bubbles" are present to activate the multiplier, and then destroy as many other surrounding enemies as you can while the multiplier is active. Then you do it again. And again. And again.

That's at least the basic idea, I think...

Yes, it's a fun scoring gimmick and a fantastic game. One of the few where I have a better high score than BulletMagnet ;)

Also really great to whittle down boss health in an arcade and wait around for a huge splay of bullets for a 16X boss kill. People watching are like "WTH is he doing, just kill it already.... OH  "

also when you get a 16x, the items dropped by the enemy move down extra fast, so you can collect them quicker. this makes a difference.

sheep's site (archived now) explains all.

I liek the scoring system a lot.

I prefer jb-5th becaue his b-button shot shoots straight, which make it easy to paint enemies with it and finish off with the spread, and then the spread takes out popcorn enemies well whiel the multiplier is going, and th epower of b-button shot compensats for te weakness of the spread fire type overall.

I imagine JB-5th secondary attack is not so good for extended boss milking... although don't take my word for it... I am a Yusuke player, but the high score table here is dominated with JB and Irori players..

All sorts of little things you can read in a strategy thread... boss milking, some basic bullet cancelling, non-stop bombing, bombing for point item value increase..
