5. You will die with your secrets in darkness :P

I really don't intend to disrespect you, but I think this thread is turning into a kindergarten. Sorry, all points (aside from point 2) are really childish hogwash. I, and I think I speak for many people on this board, don't play games to be accepted by a virtual community. I don't agree with the idea in proofing something through a video game. Seriously, keep this childish spirit out of this board. This behaviour might be suitable for some teenagers who have the desire to express their manhood threw something stupid like video games. Sorry if I got a wrong impression but, I wouldn't believe someone grown up in his mind would write such childish hogwash.

3) Meh. MARP does not have the kind of tournaments I'm interested in. Here I play against people with similar tastes in games to myself.
4) I don't play for the glory, I play for my own enjoyment, and for the fun of competing against good players.
5) I contribute more to strategy on this forum than you realise.
holy shit dude.. i think when it comes to scores in shmups i speak for everyone on shmups when i say you are one of the most respected and trustworthy members, you hardly have to justify yourself against this BS!

ed: good one coop 8) btw this topic is very entertaining, quickly became one of my favs, if not only for the display of italian sportsmanship...

Not true, but I think that at this point everyone should speak for himself.

So we might as well host our own competition on this board.
There was already a discussion about hosting another shmeet.

Don't forget, we weren't the ones throwing around the accusations. It started going to shit when the first finger was pointed, and then it snowballed from there.

I was just about to suggest that. Perhaps something similar to the Weekly Smeets, but bi-weekly or longer? Getting something going would be good at least.

Perhaps you should look at yourself sometime. Do you even know what vmware is? Go and find out, pay particular attention to it's ability to save virtual machine states.
And try to playback inp correctly after use your vmware.

Did you tried to use wolfmame to record inp at least one time?
What USB controller, refresh rate, monitor type have to your skills?
You are an idiot. You have no clue what VMWare is, do you? It's a virtual machine program. In effect* it emulates a computer. A good analogy is if you were playing PocketNES (an emulator for GBA that runs NES games) on VisualBoy Advance (a GBA emulator). You can save and load the states for the GBA, but PocketNES thinks it has been running continuously! The same is true for VMWare with Wolfmame. Wolfmame doesn't 'know' if you've been saving or loading states in VMWare. It can't tell. And so, you can use VMWare to fudge INPs.

If that description is too complicated for you, think of (non-Wolf)MAME's ability to pause most games. You can't pause a real Defender machine, but you can pause it in MAME. The game itself doesn't detect the pause, as it's a function of the emulator and never 'touches' the game itself.

*not really, but this explanation beats a longer one on virtualization

Hi Plasmo, alright let's do it.

I just started playing Harder mode last night. I got to the 2nd boss with a score of 2.5 million. I like how the blue bullets in normal are converted to red in Harder mode. It's easier to see (though you do have a ton more bullets on the screen).

Anyway, we can take up this discussion in the Ibara thread. :D

It is pretty sad how only the Japanese players' astronomical scores are widely accepted as real.
To be put in Arcadia, the game center has to confirm the score.

im a lot disappointed

instead understanding the situation and trying to change the point of view regarding the important validation of GREAT score you have preferred to create the topic Shmups vs shmups

you are happy if after hours hours of sacrifice a perfect one troll enters with one score fake?

sik it has not answered to my demands....

....and you all keep picking on Italians just to have fun with their reactions.
I can see some bad mobbing around here, and many non-Italians (I could name them) are producing quite a few blaring insults masked by "oh, I was only joking, pipe down, don't take it too seriously, tee-hee" replies.

This is bad and doesn't make you better people. They say the western world is civilized, but in this thread I can't see more than a bunch of gawkers from all over the world, still stuck in the middle ages. Will you please stop this WE vs YOU and resume, if possible, this interesting challenge proposed with the best intents by the Italian team? Huh? Huh? Or is the pulse of showing who's got the longest e-dick too strong?

I think it would be different if you hadn't started to call certain users. Liars because they don't prove their score. This was a very negative and rude attitude. So the little "quarrel" went out of hand, I think for now we ain't having a friendly and good competition. I guess this wasn't your attention to begin with. Hmm... I am a bit dissapointed in this outcome too. :?

Honestly I don't want to sound that smart-ass. But I think it is not very diplomatic to come into a board and just call certain users swindlers. Even if it would be true (what I don't believe) I'd think it is pretty rude. Since this assumes that most players here are all cheaters and just because some prefer playing on PCB proves that they are afraid? I don't know if you think so, but you sure gave everyone the impression.

We were looking for a friendly competition and a polite and respectful tone in it. At least that's what I was expecting. I agree this whole argument was not neccessary. But I think honestly this argument (even if it was heated by both sites) have killed some of the sportsman spirit of the competition...

Perhaps you should read the thread properly. People were up for it and quite enthusiastic about the competition until the finger-pointing and the accusations started. I very much doubt that anyone would be willing to participate in any competition now if there as an element of distrust already present.

It could've been easier if you all just let it go - maybe with the preemptive help of a moderator for instance, as it seems like they're always here to remind people that their signature is one pixel too wide, but not to prevent a thread disruption like this one). If you all willingly decided to get back on tracks and leave the gibberish to another thread or PMs, maybe the situation wouldn't be this compromised.
Finger-pointing is bad, but replying and adding fuel to the flames is almost as bad, if not worse.

It's a shame this has fallen apart because of a couple of stupid posts earlier on.

I'll be certainly involved in a shmeet here, although harder mode Ibara is maybe a bit too much. Something that everyone could participate in and enjoy might be better?

I agree this is an important topic to discuss, but this is the wrong venue/thread to do so. This thread will be locked soon anyway.

Honestly I hope this is a case of "lost in translation". You can't demand this of Sik, and calling out a challenge in public like this is not very polite. He has not tried to take over the DDP highscore thread, he does not openly boast about his score (unless provoked). So why is it so threatening to you? Obviously he is fine if people do not recognize it, he is not looking for respect. Maybe if you asked politely for him to rejoin the highscore thread and make an INP he would?

The "lost in translation" thing was a determining factor in this thread, definitely.
