Yeah, I'm thinking a US release is now pretty much into the "slim chance" range. Even Empire hasn't repsonded to requests for info by Americans regarding just what's up with the US release. I think the only way anyone in The States is going to get to play this, is to import the PC version.

Edit: In fact, there are a good number of them on eBay as we type.

Sooooo...

After reading this thread, is G-Darius a good port? Slowdown? Boss Attack? Does it have both Ver. 1 and Ver. 2 revisions or is it just one of them?

I'm tempted to pick it up, but if it has some issues I'll stick to the PSX version.

Yeah, but would that even work on an American PC?

I still think there is a chance for an American release; that person from Sega was from Tech Support-why they have someone in that position answer questions like mine, I don't really understand. I have high hopes, nonetheless, for more 2D releases in general for the PS2 here in the States, in '07.

On June 9th, The Coop on page 5 wrote:Just to throw a little info out there, I got Taito Legends 2 today. It's the Euro release for the PC, and it installs and plays just fine on my US PC. So if anyone else in The States wants to, you can import the PC version and play it. I'd try looking on eBay. I've seen it there for roughly $30 shipped (not bad when you consider a US release would cost you $21.19 after tax).

Much joy is being had this evening.
The Euro PC release does indeed work on US PCs. It works just fine, and you can play the installed games in MAME if you want (minus the dip switch settings).

Good news! So what about Icarus's G-Darius concerns? Did they remove the slowdown?

G-Darius is a straight port, so no Boss Attack or Practice mode, but there is not a hint of slowdown in the game. I don't know what the differences are between ver. 1 and 2, so I can't comment on that.

Hmmm... okay, thanks. I think I'll hang on and wait for the Taito Best version to come out in September before I go for it. For now, I'll stick to the snail-paced PSX rev with the 30 Boss Attack mode. ^_-

Icarus you can emulate the game (assuming that you actualy have the G-Darius PSX disc that is) on ePSXe with no slowdown and 60 fps. Seriously it makes the game so much more fun! :D

Well that's good news about the cleaned up slowdown, now I REALLY hope this makes it to the PS2! If not, I may get the PC rev. In any case, I really didn't find the slowdown in the PSX port to be that bad. IMO it certainly doesn't cripple the gamplay like the slowdown in Trizeal, or make it incredibly boring, like R-Type Final.

Does Taito Legends 2 on the PS2 have the same problem with non-analogue controllers as the first compilation did? TL1 wouldn't accept my HRAP or my SFII anniversary pad.

Yup, I have the original disc. I'm looking to record replays for it though for reference and release (as I do) so ePSXe is not really an option at the moment. ^_-

Great, thanks for that info!

Well, since that's the case, I will wait and see if this does get released in the US; if not then I'll probably pick up the PC port.

Credit to Bloodreign for this link. Still nothing totally official, but it's another indication that this should finally be hitting the US.

I know the XBOX is pretty much dead, but I really wish this would come out in for the XBOX. It would be a great last-release, that's for sure!

It'd be nice, but the XBox market's dead. I believe Capcom Classics Collection looks to have been the final XBox game, and that was at the end of November. With such a long dry spell, and not having the niche fandom that something like the Dreamcast has, I fear it'll never see the light of day in the US... despite needing absolutely no translation work.

If it comes, chances are it'll be a PS2-only release. Which in truth, is good. I already have the PC version (which anyone can get), so getting the PS2 exclusive games is fine :)

Very good points. Taito Memories was released for the PSP, but never a second one on that system either.

Did any of the vertical games on Taito Memories Vol1 and 2 have TATE mode or does only Taito Memories 2 Vol1 and Vol 2 support it?

The first two don't support tate: apparently the more recent volumes do.

Called both EB and Gamestop yesterday, neither have TL2 in their system yet, though they did have Raiden 3 in it. Hoping they input it soon so I can preorder both at the same time. If nothing by March 1st I'll just go ahead and preorder Raiden 3.

Raiden 3 still has some life in it too?

keeping my fingers crossed for both.

Taito Legends 2 needs a US release, and add the XBOX exclusive games as well.
