True. But brute-force attacks work. I've done it several times here at work to recover lost passwords.

I think Thunder Force has the right idea (i.e. hosting it as a totally separate read-only forum on our current host). Perhaps one of you admin types could contact the host's support folks to see if it's feasible?

So, I STILL can't recover the BLOODY file off the FTP since our former login password is not working...

so until then... nothing, zip, nada :(
