The stage 3 mid boss can be tricky like that. Don't forget that there are four separate mini turrets on the rear end of the ship that must be destroyed before you kill the entire rear section. That got me for the longest time.

doesnt have to be destroyed in a certain order? front section, back, then the middle (where it gets the life meter)? something like that, works for me. just checked a replay i have, the guy takes out a part of the middle (front half) after taking out the front, before moving on to the back. after that he destroys the rest for the 1up.

and while watching i just noticed something i have no clue about, whats the number under the box total (and above the current box timer)?

Yup, certain order. front, back, tower, then main section that goes into hyper.

middle numbers are the score multiplier.

No, you can destroy it in any order you like, as long as you get em all. I've destroyed most of the front, then the back, then the rest of the front, and the middle and gotten the 1up.

Hmmm, thats weird. when I do it and not in that order I always miss the 1up...Maybe its because I miss one of the really small turrets in front? Who knows.

i found a strange bug at the 3rd boss.
i dropped a bomb just before the boss, at the section with the last item carriers. you know how your bomb separates in two flames, well one one them hit no enemy, and during all the boss fight, it was still here, about one or two ship heights above the bootom, going from left to right and absorbing almost all bullets.
i could not repeat it unfortunately.

wasnt pretty, but got a new high score, marginal improvement score wise, got to the last boss though. pretty much bombed my way through chunks 5, yet somehow got the 1up. also used like 4 bombs to survive the beginning of 4 (and survived without bombing the rest of the level).

i almost always get the stage 3 1-up now, but 90% of the time i also die getting it, when the red and blue spirals cross. next time i'll try locking it then go hide to the left..

For when the 3rd midboss goes crazy, I lock on and stay in the bottom, offset to the right. Swooping to the right through the holes in pattern crossover, then returning more towards the middle, seemed to work for me.

Edit: I don't actually have the game anymore, sorry for any confusion...

WTF? I buy an RGB monitor from a member here (thanks, btw!) and test it out with Ketsui. I accidentally choose the Panzer Jager... the ship I never use. I obliterate my previous score by 10-mil, and get to the 4th boss. ONE other time I got to the 4th mid-boss but w/ a crappy score. Magical monitor I suppose.

Not even to the boss and beat my old score. That's with 2 deaths on stage 2 and not triggering the 1UP on Stage 3.

If I could tighten up my 1-3 play I could definitely get 60 million /stage 5.

i didn't get the stage 5 1-up because i was on my last life and panic bombed (i think you don't have to destroy any building, i was never sure what building you were supposed to go for but destroying both tanks before the heli without bombing seems to work?).

btw venom and kaneda, what's your typical stage 1 score? i get around 13,5m, i'm wondering how much one could get with conscious manipulating of the stage multiplier (eg. not the boss one). i have a tendency to do large sweeps of laser after getting a few 5's, even on groups of small tanks, were it would be more profitable to kill each one with the normal shot (since you don't get more 5's unlike with bigger enemies; however that requires a stricter placement).
i can't figure out the score on the replay (low quality)

What I've noticed about the mid boss. His first shots... always concentrate on the red one, as it's coming first, although it doesn't look like it. The only part I have problems on is the little 'speckle bullets'. All other parts of stage 5 fist me though.

I suck so bad. My friend ALex who does not post here has a high score of 123 mil on stage 2-3. I've only gotten to stage 5 once.

How much do you play this? This was my first time playing it in weeks. I've got ESPRade too, but I'm doing so bad at that I figured I'd go for some Ketsui voodoo to hold me over until Mushi next month. You'd think w/ 30-60 minutes of practice a day you'd get good, but that damn 5th stage is just too out-of-hand.

I hadn't played for months then broke it out 2 weeks ago and played for 2 days and was able to get to the fifth stage finally but I still havent been able to break my pitiful high score.

I dont play nearly enough, I thought that being on summer break from college would allow me some time but it hasnt. I havent even touched Dragon Blaze and my Galuda board.

Uhhh... you beat mine by quite a bit. My stage 5 achievement was ghetto though. Almost perfect 1-3. Triggered the one up, and used only two bombs. Then everything fell apart on stage 4. o_O

I havent even touched Dragon Blaze and my Galuda board.

I just got an ESPRade board, but have been ignoring it kind of. Still enjoying this one. I got it on a trade, and mostly stuff on my for sale list anyway. I made a good offer, but can't get into it like Ketsui, and I'm usually a pussy when it comes to tuff games.
