The only thing that causes dehydration is not drinking enough water. I spent my entire twenties living in the desert, having dreadlocks halfway to my ass, wearing knit beanies to hold them in, with long pants on and skateboarding all day long (it was my job) and somehow managed to avoid dehydration. I would imagine it's as easy to avoid as drinking some cool water several times a day. Uncharacteristic heatwave or no.
Also FYI, actual decent food is a much better source of the salts that humans need than potato chips. But if you can't manage it, try to track down a product called "Emergen-C". It was introduced to me by Pearl Jam's tour manager as the "ultimate hangover helper" about ten years ago. But nowadays I use it to replenish all the goodies that I lose through harsh workouts and to accelerate the healing process when I have a cold or flu. It's super cheap and two to three packets a day would certainly reverse any lingering effects of a bout with dehydration.

I live in Miami, Florida, and we are just hitting the evil evil hot months....I feel it for you guys in the UK. Here the average temp daily is about 95+ and a million percent humidityTurrican wrote:Your serious heatwave is our norm.bloodflowers wrote:For the benefit of those who probably don't know, the UK has been in the grip of a pretty serious heatwave for a while now. Where I live the temperature has been a constant 30-35C, with medium to high humidity and virtually no breeze.

I stopped the coffee. I'm extroverted, so all I got were jitters...
I've found that I emit a lot of body heat when I'm engaged in intense shooting. So, I have to leave the door open and the AC on...
But, as for my ideal shmupping environment; I prefer to be well hydrated, slightly liquored-up (scotch and club soda and ice), and the temperature to be slightly above room (74-76F). Don't like to have it particularly cold...and I don't really need the weed for a hard session.
And for the record it's fuckin' HOT and HUMID down here in So. Tex!

Hah, my friend also lives on soft drinks. Every few days he gorges on water to equalize, but he always has headaches and stuff. Soft drinks and alcohol, actually. Don't know how he survivesBelmont wrote:IM pretty sure that soda and alcohol will dehydrate you. But i swear i have a friend that lives off pepsi so im not 100% positive.
