What are your shooter skill "goals" this year?

Mars Matrix - 4 trillion points / 7-9m exp
Giga Wing 2 - 70 quadrillion
Dragon Blaze - win
Gradius V - 3-1+

Eventually I'd like not to suck at the games on my top 25 list. That's one goal. Further, I'd like that list to be filled with titles that all seem to me to be truly first-tier. Figuring out such a list is another goal (not exactly a skills-goal, I guess).

Beat R-Type Final on Human as opposed to Kids.

Keep on playing the original DDP. Purchase the PS2 sequel.

Design the 3rd player character of my hoime-brew shmup and texture all three of them. Make music for the game as well.

Not too ambitious I guess... with college around the corner, and other commitments, it's difficult these days. I just want to go from a beginner shmuppist to an accomplished.

Since I just picked up Under Defeat, I suppose I should at least add a first round clear. Already up to the 1-4 boss.

Mushi Ultra 200mil+ score and/or reach the fifth stage. (edit: done 220806)
Record a good ultra run. (which means I have to play yoko, which sucks)
100T Gigawing score
No-miss no-bomb to stage 5 in DDP. (boss been red a few times, but I always mess it up

Don't worry, I don't think I'll ever get as into it as I was before, but I do miss the little accomplishments. Beating your top score, working towards and accomplishing a 1CC, having fun blowing shit up, etc. Oddest thing is my grades actually dropped the semester after I sold my stuff...

Looks like there is a lot of new competition here, should be fun.

Heh...I sooooo topped myself. Thunder Cross went down.........and it was the version of Thunder Cross that everyone hates (too damn hard, apparently). After Under Defeat went down, I'd say my skill goals for this year are done with. Hmmm....maybe a game I really hate.....like Ikaruga.

Unless my stamina improves, I think I'll only be able to clear DOJ's first loop this year.

DOJ has verified what DEL has said about playing only when one feels alert and relaxed. I find that when I'm tired or frustrated (say, during my second hour straight of DOJ) I'm too distracted to really analyze my play, and my ability to commit things to memory is diminished. Also, I'm more liable to not see bullets.

I usually keep my list updated. Its on the third page near the bottom, the link in my sig takes you straight there.

Last thing done was a 20mil+ score on the Lambda route in G-Darius. Was aiming for 25mil (out of a WR target of ~31mil), but now the forum tournament has started, so that'll have to take the back seat while I help my team to world domination. ^_-
