Everyday I'm checking to see if R-Type Tactics I * II Cosmos has gotten a release date. I know it's supposed to be out sometime in Fall 2024.

It's late June now so a release date should be announced soon, right?

I never played the originals but I love R-Type and like strategy rpgs, so I'm basically the target market for them and always meant to check them out. So I'm interested.

But OMG what was the music in that trailer? It sounds like somebody's wedding song from 1987, except they didn't come up with any words. Like this is just a guide vocal and they were going to hire the actual singer later, but the money fell through.

This is up on Playstation but not Xbox or Switch yet. Xbox never even had pre-orders open from what I could tell.

I hope the new bosslady can improve some stuff over there. It's my preferred platform.

Just my luck though, I have to travel today of all days when I've been waiting on this for years at this point. If only Xb had a real handheld that could natively play my library.

How strategic were these games? Were they deep? Or more of a fanservice/vehicle to ogle all the cool R-Type designs, sort of like what Super Robot Wars is?

Yeah, those ^ questions too.

At this point, if you want high resolution R-Type ships, there isn't a better place to check them out than in the museum in Final 2, though maybe this game has better graphics since it's like half a decade newer.

Speaking of Final 2, both it and Final 3 Evolved have weird performance problems no matter what you play them on. I guess it doesn't matter that much for a strategy RPG, but I hope they cleaned up performance this time.
