Don't think there's an existing thread for this one, but for any unfamiliar this is the latest project by x.x gameroom, who has done a bunch of freeware shmups over the years and more recently released their first paid game, covered here.

In any event, there's now a demo out, which at this point is just the first stage (no options menu, etc.), but it's there for anyone who wants to see where the game is currently at.

If you're using an X-Box 360 compatible joystick/pad:
Y: Auto-fire
A: Shot
X: Special Shot
B: Bomb

The four directional inputs map correctly to the joystick/d-pad.
A will confirm selections at the menu.

Demo updated to 0.6, including a second playable character, whose special weapon gimmick I'm having a hard time figuring out.

Sorry to resurrect this thread @_@"...

...but does anyone know, does the dev (X.X Gameroom) actually post updates anywhere regarding the status of Eden's Eclipse?

Demo (1.0.1 (still "under development)) was released early 2023.

Seems like we haven't had an update for a while.

X.X Gameroom is super awesome and really been looking forward to this release!

Hopefully, like Blue Wish Desire, it will be a paid release; because they really deserve it for making top-tier STG's.

Oops sorry missed your reply!~ I tried to check the twitter when I saw your post but stupid website wanted me to login to see anything (I don't have acc).

I tried again today and now it shows but no posts from the author it seems.

Eventually found their YouTube, latest video seems to be from November 2023 but I had not seen it before.

Going from his Twitter feed, he may be more or less done with Original and has started working on Heaven mode now. Since I assume stage graphics and enemy placements are a large part of the work, he's reasonably far along.

That is super great news! I think if Original is the base, then Heaven should not take long to add and balance.

But I fear Hell will take a lot of time to make hardcore players happy.

Also, for Blue Wish Desire anyway, the TLB is locked behind Hell (& no-miss) criteria, so the TLB may also still need to be worked on.

Accel probably won't take much time to add, since it is just Original with double bullet speed. Maybe just a few weeks to play test that mode should be enough.

But this gives me hope that maybe we will see this game by this year or early next year?

Just for info there seems to be bug where you need to press "d" instead of "s" to reach in-game pause menu lol. ReadMe says button is "s" and for this developer it was always "s" with every other previous game... but somehow it got changed to "d" with Eden's Eclipse?? Maybe bug? Anyway hope this help anyone else who also wonder how the f to pause/restart lol >.<!!!~

The Eden's Eclipse stg is a mere 128.00+mb d/l and does boot up on a Steam Deck without a Proton booter necessary. However, if you try to enable tate, it results in a "black screen" issue. It does play just fine in yoko mode with the usual obligatory 60fps framerate going on during a gaming session.

So it runs natively on Linux? That's neat. Still deciding if I would really play this game if I bought it, but it does look great.

In past (Blue Wish Desire, Eden's Aegis, so on) if you use Auto Guard, and you get hit, it deplete bomba from stock. At that point... bomba is just a HP bar!!

In Eden's Eclipse... the Auto Guard, once charged up... if you get hit... it only remove shield... not any bomba stock.

And this game still give exactly same amount of bomba stock as previous one.

Faith not understand why anyone would complain about more resources... when solution seem to be to learn to reflex bomba properly like so many other STG lol. The new Guard system is good!

And speaking of learning new system..... you know you can recharge Guard Gauge to get your shield back quite fast?

Most of your Guard Gauge refill will come from yellow gems from cancelled bullets when you kill an enemy with Hyper... and some large air enemies spam so many bullets (even on Original) that you can refill Guard Gauge by almost 50% on a single well-timed cancel!!!~

And the game's actually pretty tough - I've done one run on Classic, first gameovered on stage 3, intentionally restarted stage 4 and almost flipped my table upon dying right before the boss. Doesn't help that the stages have definitely gotten way too long.

In short, I'd love to study and practice the game, but it was made to be surprisingly newbie-unfriendly for some reason.
