I always forget Gradius IV exists. Same with SFC Gradius III and Gaiden. In my brain the series skips directly from III arcade version to V for some reason with literally nothing in between, kind of like what happened with Windows 9.
Doesn't the PS2 version of this suck compared to the arcade version or something like that? Or maybe that was some Raiden game that I'm confusing it with. I don't know. I guess that's why I'm asking.

No, the PS2 version is the same as arcade version. Yes, I read before that the PS2 is lower resolution and longer loading time between stages. Technically they're different, perhaps. However, as a casual(who is not a hardware technician) gamer who played both, they are exactly the same feeling, except that the controller/buttons maybe different.
First of all, the game was launched or developed while people(or most people) were still using "big" monitor or TV or what you call it CRT, 4:3 proportion. Those screens are not extremely clear or sharp compare to LCD or LED. So the slightly lower resolution should not cause big difference, considering household equipment generally are smaller than arcade machine. Regarding the loading time, I really did not notice or cared that much. The sound or audio is inferior too but hey wait a minute, I can only barely hear the game audio in game centre anyway. After all, the experience or gameplay is the same.
Surprisingly, PSP version is the best in my emulation attempt, it's likely refined for 16:9 display, while the PS2 version should be more close to arcade aspect.

I past Stage 3, 4 and 5, I tries to dodge pattern and obstacles with the deadly area, It keeps damaging over it place, Same dangerous spot over and over again, Within more than failure attempted try and setting Expert Skill Level, Every time it keep going down and failed again, I stuck into the middle stage where i remember that time before.
