Been really busy lately but just recently started playing shmups again, currently working on DonPachi, so far I've made it to 2-4. I'm sure you remember Mr. Driller G as a cheap hidden gem for maybe $100. It must be not so hidden these days, because I know others who have been looking for one and I don't think it's sold under $350 in forever. So if you want it on a short timeline I'll second the TOPS price.

Ya, cheapest I can find it is is like $420+shipping

Pretty sure I bought driller G from sohiacorp like 15-20 years ago and it was under $100 shipped, ha

And I already had a reply from my friend Mr. T Orihara at Sophiacorp(seeing that name took me back, ha) for that Topps one. There is one for what is likely slightly cheaper with shipping on eBay, it will still be close to $500, oof

Edit… ok, Mr Driller G got. Sadly it would seem the Mushi sold since I asked to buy it last night.

I also ordered an MVS 1 slot, so I can play my Neo Drift Out again, I kept that one.

Also got a bunch of parts in the mail, it’s currently all Sanwa(yuck). Seimitsu on the way

The cab is definitely in rougher shape than my old ones, but the monitor is good and had a re-cap. It’s just seen some commercial use so it’s a bit banged up here and there. It cost waaaaay too much, but sadly it’s 2026 and it is what it is.

I've got one of those, they work quite well! What made you decide to scratch your shmup itch?

More looking forward to Driller than anything. I regretted getting rid of ALL the cabs almost immediately. Then the pandemic hit. I went home for work with the pandemic and we never went back. I was home alone for like 6+ years. Kind of got old eventually, very lonely. My work just moved to a new office so I opted to start going back in a few days a week. Nice seeing people again

But ya, arcade stuff. I haven’t played much of anything arcade since I got rid of everything, been playing old RPG’s and shit. Was playing some driller on gameboy color and got me hyped again. I actually almost grabbed a Vewlix a month or so ago but it wouldn’t have worked in my living room. Went on Kijiji and saw the Astro and went for it immediately. I think I paid too much, but without options you take what comes up.

Excited to get things going again, just waiting on games and parts. Sadly I am not as strong as I once was, I highly doubt I can flip the monitor by myself so I will need to get somebody to come and help most likely. All good though, looking forward to playing some Driller again.

Once I am up and running there will be a meet for sure, I’m a few blocks from where the last meet was(East York)
