No mention of M2. Hoping this isn't a straight port of the Xbox 360 double pack.

It is literally a straight port not by M2 of the Xbox 360 double pack, much like the previous City Connection releases.

And City Connection was... 50/50 when it comes to input latency, right? I want to remember them being on both sides in the past.

They're using once again their Takeoff team, which was on the good side. The concerns should be placed more on how good the original ports in that regard were. Hardly they'll be improving over that.

Yeah, at 0:41 the trailer even shows the menu of the 360 version. As far as I remember the 360 port was solid with no HD treatment. Both games deserve more love🐽
Still looking forward to the steam release👍

It's a shame there won't be a bit more effort applied, but I've missed Muchi so much it's an instant buy.
Sweets..... yeah. Interesting.

People vexed that a £200 disc based game from 15 years ago is being ported again, presumably at a cheaper price point? Plus ça change

I assume City Connection will give this the Deathsmiles treatment which would be perfectly fine for me. Would prefer that then waiting for M2 to do a port.

It's interesting that City Connection has listened more to the shmup community's clamor for ports than other publishers and developers (ININ/M2/Taito/etc.), and that they're actually doing it!
It seems City-Connection is aiming to raise the bar in terms of release numbers and quality.
At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if they were the first to port Armed Police Batrider, Ibara, Battle Bakraid or even DoDonPachi.

Was the lag bad? I had played the Xbox 360 ports quite a bit. I spent enough time to loop MMP 1.01, 1CC 1.0, and cleared PS arrange before I bought a MMP pcb and started clearing 1.0 there.

I don’t really remember the ports being laggy? Might have to give it a go when I get home

I do remember the widescreen option being super wonky and the weird matsuri mode not being worth the time

Excited to see this get out of 360 purgatory, especially onto Steam and console. If only Livewire would have followed suit, but they seem to be hanging on by a thread.

I think this is the same crew that did the Deathsmiles 1 and 2 compilation, so I suspect it will be better than the usual fare. I've wanted to play Muchi for a while (and yes I know I could have used mame as of late), so this is a nice excuse to finally play one of the few cave games that looks appealing to me!

It is, Take X Off is listed as developer alongside City Connection in the Steam store page. But yeah, other than that, funny there's no X1/Series version, despite it already being most likely back ported from the X360 version. Even Deathsmiles I/II, Akai Katana and Under Defeat had current gen ports, not sure why they skipped Xbox though (I'm not assuming late port shenanigans or anything like they did with Akai Katana overseas).

Either way, hopefully Mushihimesama Futari can be freed from its X360 and I-OS purgatory similar to MMP/PS getting released like this for modern/current gen. (And also on every platform too, not just missing Xbox, like MMP/PS is currently.)

They're ~5 frames of lag, much like SDOJ. You can adjust, but it's not ideal. I was able to 1CC Muchi as well but it never felt perfectly "right" to play. The Switch port here will probably be quite bad with its inherent latency (I'd expect 6-7 frames on Switch now), but hopefully that PS5 version can at least be on par.

The lag was acceptable until I played both games in MAME where they perform much better... and for free.

Thank you. Still kinda wild I never really noticed.

If it’s console only I usually go with the switch version, but a Yagawa game on steam is too good for me to pass up. I may still double dip (or quadruple at this point?) because MMP is my favorite game in the genre

To my eyes, it looks like they've gotten rid of the ugly scaling/filter that the 360 version had. Hopefully they can reduce lag as well.

Unfortunately I think we need to wait for M2 on these. City Connection is basically doing what LiveWire is doing and bringing Xbox360 ports to new platforms. Original ports would need to be done by others. But Futari is still in the mix so that is good.

Yeah, I look to their Deathsmiles I&II and Akai Katana releases, which were both pretty well done as far as accuracy to the 360 ports. Does seem very unlikely that they will improve over the 360 source material though.

For home ports, I'm still inclined to keep playing the 360 just because I can do that over RGB on a nice CRT. Still gonna be better, or at least no worse, from a latency perspective.

The arrange soundtrack is a pretty cool feature though! Daisuke Matsumoto and Yosuke Yasui? Yeah I'll definitely want to check that out. Soundtrack CD alone is enough to convince me to get the physical box here. Pretty reasonably priced too, $48 USD for a physical release with full CD.

You can already turn off the smoothing filter in the 360 release, it's an option in both games.

Unfortunately? Nah, FORTUNATELY. I do hope that this additional exposure increases the chances that we'll see an M2 ShotTriggers Ibara/Ibara Kuro pack at some point though. I'd certainly take Pink Sweets as part of the package too, but beggars can't be choosers.

Well damn... That sucks. I was thinking I'd grab this on sale, but maybe I'll need to wait a billion years for an even bigger sale if I ever get it at all. Maybe they'll improve the input lag, but from what people are saying here, I'm guessing they didn't do that for the Deathsmiles and Akai Katana ports (not that I know what the input lag was in their 360 versions to begin with).

For EmperorIng,

You can use Final Burn Neo to play all of the Cave CV-1000 based arcade stgs + a puzzler as well -- even DoDonpachi Sai-Dai-Ou-Jou is playable on FBN with tate (there's a certain peculiar method to implement tate properly with DDP-SDOJ but it can be done).

DDP-SDOJ looks awesome in true low-res 15.7kHz 240p format running on a Raspberry Pi 4 through a Crown Arcade jamma pcb using RGB-Pi OS4 front end + FBN emulation -- is the cheapest way to play it on a candy cab or portable supergun setup nowadays in 2026: https://www.ebay.com/itm/204368012484?_ ... Wish there was an alternative cover option which let you choose either Muchi art only or Pink Sweets art only as the cover. 'Cause Muchi art is terrible and Pink Sweets art rocks. That said Muchi plays better and Pink Sweets never felt fun to me (although it looks rad, like it's the ultimate cute-em-up.)

Wow cool! I thought SDOJ would be the last switch cave release, but thankfully not! I have found a physical edition (Amazon UK) but it seems to be the special edition, hopefully they'll release a standard version too as it will go nicely with my other physical cave shmups on switch.
