I mean both can be true, I think it's clear that NSG sucked for him to work on, but he still put everything he could into it. Its a great game that I hope he can be proud of even if the crunch at M2 was horrific.

It really is a shame because we were all looking forward to this. I was hoping we’d get the next Radiant Silvergun or Ikaruga, but that will never happen now.EmperorIng wrote: ↑Sat May 23, 2026 4:20 pm Someone better hold xxx1993 tight and comfort him once he finds out.

We should have believed your uncle all along, if Iuchi left M2 he can now go back to Treasure, maybe they were perfecting that Gynoug Dickman battle this whole time. Just 12 more years until they finish the rest of the game from scratchBIL wrote: ↑Sat May 23, 2026 4:56 pm God damn it! I just heard the news from my uncle who works at Treasure. Did anyone make a backup of the youtube video that showcased some of the OST? M2 say they've removed it.

Are we just going to rely our hope on Truxton Extreme and Aleste Branch now?

It does certainly look that way for the time being. It is what it is with Ubusuna being "officially" vaporware indeed. It is truly a sad day within the hard-core stg genre as it is.

That’s kind of scary, but yeah I guess?
For the love of Hatsune Miku, why in the world haven’t they they just cranked out a Senjin Aleste console port???
Glad you’re doing OK though lol, sad to hear the news but it’s sort of charming to see everyone here thinking of you in this tragic moment.

Is it not enough Namco isn’t doing shit for Time Crisis 5, just re-releasing the original game for the franchise’s 30th anniversary? And there’s still nothing on Aleste Branch, Zaleste, or a console port for Senjin Aleste…

Its been 12 years. I didn't expect it to release at this point anyway.
At least now there's confirmation so nobody has to keep wondering.

Ubusuna was all a lie. It felt like a scam at this rate... You hear that, Iuchi?pablumatic wrote: ↑Sat May 23, 2026 10:15 pm Its been 12 years. I didn't expect it to release at this point anyway.

Given what a cultural phenomenon RSG and Ikaruga were, I can't see a future where this doesn't get released at some point. It just won't be M2 reaping the rewards.

Becoming a milestone in a niche genre is a bit different to being a cultural phenomenon. RSG didn't even sell well and it took some ports till Ikaruga did.

Re: Hiroshi Iuchi's UBUSUNA for the PS4
While I know what you're saying, in all fairness, Ikaruga did catch on with the norms (the 'git gud' crowd) to an extent when it hit xbla. So while "phenomenon" is a bit strong, I personally find the fact that any shooter could catch on to any extent with that crowd in the late '00s to be pretty impressive. And really, it wasn't like those people were going to import the game, dig out a dreamcast from a dumpster, and burn a utopia disc.Becoming a milestone in a niche genre is a bit different to being a cultural phenomenon. Re: Hiroshi Iuchi's UBUSUNA for the PS4
I say phenomenon because it was well known (and generally highly regarded) by both people within and outside the genre, possibly in a way that has not been replicated since (outside Japan). Ikaruga was significant enough (culturally in the West) that Microsoft paid for the development of and published its precursor for the 360, which is hard to comprehend in this day and age.

Re: Hiroshi Iuchi's UBUSUNA for the PS4
Very sad news.
I guess I can't help wondering if we're ever gonna see some footage of the game, since it was said most of it was playable.
It would be a shame if this menu image is all we ever get to see of the actual game.

Re: Hiroshi Iuchi's UBUSUNA for the PS4
I guess we'll find out then about what happened, if it had something to do with Night Striker Gear's development, or anything else."I apologize for causing such a fuss.
I would like to comment on this matter as many people have come to see me, but I will wait until after I leave my job (early July or later) to comment on this matter. I am also sorry
for disappointing so many people. However, based on my current feelings, I don't think it will turn out to be such a disappointing situation. I apologize if this sounds curt, but I would appreciate your understanding."

That M2 announcement has north of 1 million views on Twitter / X. Maybe there is more interest in this than we realise.

Re: Hiroshi Iuchi's UBUSUNA for the PS4
I don't think it's any exaggeration to say Ubusuna has been consistently the most highly anticipated stg for the last decade. There's definitely a lot of folks outside of the typical online spaces that were interested.
Based on that recent blog post, I am curious to see what we hear from Iuchi next. I don't wanna get my hopes up, but if he says the situation isn't so disappointing, maybe he is planning to retire so he can work on the game more full time independently at home. If nothing ever comes of Ubusuna again though I think that is also fine, I just hope Iuchi takes the rest he's earned.

Re: Hiroshi Iuchi's UBUSUNA for the PS4
I'm really most curious if "retirement" is just a poor choice of phrase by machine translation and it just means "leaving M2" or if he really wants to retire from game development for good. Someone actually knowing the language would have to confirm/deny whether the implication is there.

Too bad none of that seemed to rub off on Night Striker Gear.

Its a shame more people didn't play NSG, it's really awesome. I think M2 kinda fumbled the marketing tbhDietSoap wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2026 8:18 pmToo bad none of that seemed to rub off on Night Striker Gear.
