I recently got my hands on a Sony PVM-1351Q that presented a "washed-out" image with very high G2 (screen) voltage, even though the screen pot was set to minimum. The culprit was a bad 680K resistor in neck board.
Those resistors are called "solid" in Sony manuals. They are better known as "carbon composition" or "Allen Bradley". They are often out of specs on these old monitors. Better replace them with metal film resistors.
Yes. I replaced it with a 2W metal film resistor, the same size as the original 1/2W one.
