out of curiosity I tired it on a more secured android device, the link leads to a single html file, couldn't get it to actually play, it's an empty space background with controls typed out along the bottom of the screen but no menu appeared to start the game

very strange

aspiring shmup devs typically post screenshots or a video, or even the name of the game, if they feel they've got something public-release worthy

deep blue is one of those tragic games where you can tell someone really put a lot of love into making art assets and then they had absolutely no idea what to do with them

True! Screenshots of it are generally intriguing. I also love the health indicating eyes! I just don't want to play it. (I bought it for one dollar back in the day to reach free shipping on an order.)

Even the pinball world recently got its own shitstorm when it became obvious the second biggest pinball manufactorer Jersey Jack Pinball used AI for some small parts of the artwork for its Harry Potter machine.

There is a gazillion dollars invested into AI so companies are forcing it into everything in an attempt to normalize it, but it still is met with huge public pushback. DLSS 5 was met with ridicule, the phrase Microslop was trending, and sora 2 is shutting down. The odds are stacked against us sure, but that's like the plot of every shmup.

AI is useful as a tool, to assist with what you're making or learning, and non-generative AI is a lot less toxic than generative AI.

Unfortunately, people have no self-control. Instead of using it as a tool, they are content to sit back, produce idiotic content that has basically no human element, and act as if it has any significance.

Clearly the endless deluge of worthless content on the internet is not enough, because this thread has given us yet another monument to laziness and lack of creativity.

Agree with ban ~_~"... this is insult not just to creatives... but whole community. All the artists, developers, players... everyone... who put their blood to make it what it is. Already, euro-shmup have bad reputation (because many don't understand the super precise nature of what make many STG great). This is worse. AI will never understand the most important part of all this: humans. At least with euro-shmup (and, yes, there are a few I enjoy!) still at least have a person behind it with a vision, even if that vision is not always the best.

I already fear that one day... people will use AI to route STG. I remember I saw some crap article few months ago of people trying to use AI to play arcade game... seriously stupid!

You can find much better AI games on the market already, so your point is nonexistent. Not that these trash games deserve your attention, though, even if they look good. Best ignore such things and use it responsibly instead (but I've said as much already).

I'm not a fan of Harry Potter in general (books are highly derivative and read like internet fanfiction), but, well, for many people it's been a dream theme for a pinball machine
