I remember back in the old forums (I think when it still was in the Network54 pages), there was an user who posted about fictional shmups that he PLAYED INSIDE HIS HEAD.

He used to describe how great was a certain gameplay mechanic or a certain boss of a level of a videogame he PLAYED ON HIS HEAD.

This was freaking awesome, in the worst way possible. Anyone remembers that?

I think he had less than 15 posts before getting banned, maybe the quickest ban in the forum.
AnimePenny. He got banned by Akira after he commented that after the explosion of the Columbia, computers would finally get ahead of consoles, since they are better anyway. Maybe he was inbred... :P

I have the impression that in the last days people started arguing more again. Might be the fact that I have time to look around here more; might be that the topics are inducing that. :?

While its nice to be in an environment that is peaceful and friendly the majority of the time, it can't stay like forever. I don't instigate it myself, but I do believe that on occasion a minor argument can help get things out in the open. Web forum, in real life, wherever. Keeping it in for too long will only make it worse when it eventually spills over.

It just a phase all groups and communities go through.

It's summer, and all desperate kids who need to hide from life start harassing the intarweb. Personally i'm writing my fucking MA thesis (so i'll become a fucking Ph.D. candidate without a Ph.D. position, yay!), so i kill the time on the intarweb. The derelicts who don't know what a shmup is try to find out a way to make it sell like GTA.

Shall i take pics of the gf on Sunday?

It wasn't because NTSC-J made it the worst thread on shmups.com, but rather people who took his post in the wrong way and the end result... well, you have the idea.

That thread was fine. I would have opened up the very same thread if I'd have walked into a Japanese Arcade and found myself surrounded by players knocking every game to pieces.
I would indeed have asked myself the question; "Why Bother?"
This thread made perfect sense to me.

Yes please. As for your self-proclaimed enourmous schlong, I am not sure  I remember a thread at the now-gone Ikaruga forum were members posted pictures of themselfes. Endless fun, especially the contrast of how you picture each member in your head (or based on the avatar) and how they look in real life.

I see you haven't been here when the last yearly held shmupsforum picture week took place. During that week, the members of the board traditionally change their avatar to a picture of themselves, thus allowing fellow shmuppers to compare the mental picture with the real one. Great fun.

I think the next picture week is due in September...

Yeah, hurling an unfounded insult at a stranger with your very first post is a nice way to say "hello"; I bet you make a lot of friends wherever you go.

Somone here wondered what caused the degradation of the shmups forum's atmosphere; there you have part of the answer- lack of respect/manners.

PS.
Yes, that thread was silly, I was thinkig about linking to it myself. :-D

I actually do.

Originally, I was lurking for a couple months, but that thread gave me the drive to post. Thanks dude 8)

It's kind of hard to show respect or manners for an opinion that ends up being mostly self-serving and paranoid. You clearly don't understand how much of a pain collectors who aim to resell for 5x or more markup make for normal people to actually get copies of (originally obscure) games they want. So what if GQD is basically trolling you by making indistinguishable copies? You should invest in other things.

And if few people playfully (or not playfully) insulted each other on this forum, when there's an argument it'll be an eruption of catastrophic proportions, or this forum is filled with senior aged people or teenage girls. (Granted--I and a few others can go out of control at times as seen in the more recent freshly locked threads, but we have bloodflowers for that.)

Neither group posts in this forum -- well, I may be wrong about the senior aged part.

I kind of wish more people at neo-geo.com got over their collector-reseller mentality. I mean $1000 for Metal Slug 1 AES, what?

I think I toped everyone in the dumbass posts department with this one.

Almost every one of my topics makes me cringe now when I look back at them. Almost half of them are locked and for very good reasons too.

And all this from "Ehi, what's the difference between type A and type B in DOJ?". Let's not forget where words come from, it might be a revealing clue about the quality of the post!

ONe of the few remaining games that runs for 3x the yen price. I located many of these for 3500 yen for people before moving.

There's a thread at neogeo.com somewhere where one of the many toolbags posts a link to Assembler's collection thread at his own forum, which is pictures of dev material stacked to the roof. He then starts to rip into Assembler for being a boasting dickhead... which is funny as he posted it in the "collections forum" at his own forum. Morons. Glad I don't have/play Neo Geo games.

Complaining about people in one internet forum on another internet forum = amazingly pathetic. Get the fuck out of your apartment and do something.

I don't want to start an argument with you, GaijinPunch, as I respect you. But isn't that being a tad hypocritical? (At the moment I'm not sure if you were aiming that comment at me.)

Besides, whos complaining? I know I like to moan a bit as well. Must be getting old. ^o^

I just don't like being labeled with the "13yr old ROM kiddie" tag that they seem to like throwing around in that thread at the moment, when I've never even met/spoken to any of them.

If you play a game on a harder difficulty or without a handicap they all feel threatened and throw a tantrum like whiny retarded birds trying to protect their nest.
Forget Voltron slippers, this is bad ass!

Sadly this may be old board. Also, Twitch's thinly veiled attack on click-stick's forum elitism. Too much good stuff.
