Where's DEL and Mills when we need them. I can't stand this topic, it turned into a "let's badmouth Truxton, Toaplan and their players" thread.

atsujin is a game that I enjoyed a lot, going for the 1CC. I wouldn't consider it a "top shmup" by any means - it's pretty janky and weird, but it's a very fun game with a lot of memorable segments.
But I would. I love it, its so creative and It was so great and fun to get my MD 1cc.

Nope, it's dead and you can't even launch it anymore if you have it installed.

Picked up Snow Bros. Wonderland the other day since it was massively reduced. What a boring and pointless game. Even though I had absolutely no expectations for it, it still feels like a massive disappointment.
It's honestly hard to imagine that the people behind that game would be able to make any good action game D:

Sounds like there is a possibility that they are reworking the game, based on the feedback that the demo got. Just my guess.

It's more likely that this was developed by another team. No one really can stretch their resources on multiple projects at the same time, unless they are operating on some vague hands off- director role.

Ok, I thought about some cracked stuff. In case of the Street Fighter 6 Demo back then, many people played it after it has been removed from Steam.

The demo still works if you can go offline in Steam and launch via the executable.

Played stage 2 today at the thing. It's... green. Music was arranged versions of (music spoilers for those of you who want to be surprised, I suppose)
Spoiler
Tatsujin Ou stages 3 and 5
The scoring system has been changed/enhanced/whatever. Now you pick up yellow points things from enemies that you destroy with the big shot or whatever it's called.

Talked to Yuge-san for a little about the game. He said they're making final adjustments now. Also finally remembered to ask him about the Tatsujin Ou stage 2 BGM title I DEFEND STM. I've been wondering what the hell STM is for years now and I always forgot to ask. The official answer is "It's a secret~♥".

Also ran into Namiki Manabu. He has green hair now lol.

Mills is too busy tearing everyone a new arsehole in the Tatsujin Ou new version thread

And I doubt he would play this until its released for a phone

Did anyone else see they released Co-Op trailer few days ago?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBuV-v60wBA

This actually looks much better than solo play since play area is so wide.

Well, looks like we're not getting this game this year after all. Hopefully next year. I don't want Psyvariar 3 to be the only one we're getting.

Based on the trailer, I would say that this game lacks all of the charm and aesthetics of the original. Unfortunately, not interested.

I’m guessing you’d prefer FZ: Formation Z or Psyvariar 3, then. God, you people are so negative like always.

Here are my thoughts after watching the latest trailer:

This will be a very interesting release.

I've never been against the 16:9 aspect ratio because I've always felt it is something that can be worked through with smart enemy placement, bullet patterns that create "walls", fast ship movement, bigger player and enemy sprites, and wider shots.

There doesn't seem to be inertia and the ship's movement seems to be fast, which addresses two of my biggest concerns already.

We'll still need to see if the level and boss design are good, as well as if there will be a progression system or not, and if the playthrough length is reasonable (15 to 45 minutes) or way too long (over 60 minutes).

I think this will be a decent release. Better than Cygni and other EuroSHMUPs at least.

The bigger question is if this will transcend that and become a genuinely great game.

Personally, I prefer my games lasting an hour.

I remember playing the demo and being shocked by how fun it turned out. 16:9 vertizontal sounds like a fucking disaster, and I certainly wouldn't want it to become the norm, but somehow I think they actually made it work in this very particular case. I also think as far as post-Naomi 3D stuff goes, this is at least probably the best there is. Not like there's much if any good competition in that segment, but still...

Above all else, though, god DAMN did they nail the firepower.

100% also super interested! Actually, just few days ago, was looking at Steam page for 100th time wondering when it will release >.<"... so... very happy to finally get date! Yes, aspect ratio definitely a bit weird... but like said by DietSoap... seem like they really did think to make game design around the "wide" field. Really think we should all keep open mind... to see such a legendary name in STG's... come back in such a format... and maybe... just maybe... they make this wide screen vertical style finally work well? Really hope so!!~

So we get

GOG version AKA the best version
2-minute caravan mode
Tatsujin Ou ship
new ship (new ships?)
Tatsujin Ou red shot for the normal ship (but it's purple now)
2P mode, which makes me wonder if anyone is going to try playing it like that one insane Ikaruga dude

Now just gotta wait for the Japanese LE announcement, which is really weird because Tatsujin itself hasn't announced anything yet.

Normally I wouldn't care about the story or whatever, but Joker Jun is very proud of it and quite confident in it, so that's good.

Already talked to my boss about taking two days off for this game. I have just under a month of leave days and it's not like I'm going to use them for anything else. Apparently it's illegal to not take leave and the government will go after my company if I don't, so might as well.

Apparently the whole idea of this game was "let's make a shooting game that is fun to play because it's 16:9" and the game was designed for this exact purpose and aspect ratio from the start. I played stage 2 at the most recent Toaplan event and the stage 2 boss is definitely an instance where you can see that. It has these things that come in from the sides specifically to block the giant sweeping laser attack that the boss has, and you can take advantage of the aspect ratio to do that or whatever. It's in the new trailer, but only for like a second or so. I don't remember if you can destroy them, and of course you probably shouldn't because you'll get hit by that laser, but yeah, the game's specifically built for 16:9. They know what they're doing.

And yes, the homing shot is one of the biggest shots I've ever seen. That thing is ridiculous, and its hyper mode shot or whatever it's called is pretty strong for a homing shot.

I remember him... VTF-INO is quite possibly the most legendary Ikaruga player I know of. They're like the shmup equivalent to the late Chuck Norris.

Steven, if you played the new version of this game can you confirm if the playfield extends outside the 16:9 area like it did in the original demo ?

I have played only the most recent demo, which was in like August or something, and it was only available at that one event in Yokohama for a few hours, but yes, it still scrolls horizontally.

It sounds weird, but it's fine once you play it, and it only scrolls a little bit. It's pretty comfortable too because you become pretty fast at max speed and it gives you lots of room to zoom around in, which is nice because the bosses in this game throw a bunch of very dense shot patterns at you. This game also has some of the smoothest movement in the genre, so just moving in general feels really good.

Does anyone have an Xbox? There is a thing on the Xbox online store or whatever it's called that says GET Free trial. Did they put a demo up for the Xbox version?
