Play Asia say it's in Japanese language only (menus etc), can anyone confirm this? Asia version does say English/Japanese though.

Thanks.
I got my copy (Switch) off Play-Asia and the menus etc are in English. You can change languages in the options but it's English by default.

Did you notice which version you bought? Play-Asia has both.

Order states:-

Not sure if that helps.

Yeah, so you bought the Asian region version that has English support. The question remains if the Japanese version supports English; I suspect it's a "no."

I got my copy today! I think it's pretty nifty we can switch between playing as slave or not with a simple toggle at the character selection screen! I heard the wallpapers were severely limited, but I unlocked a whole bunch of them through only messing about for ten minutes...?

The input latency is there, but I have no means to measure the exact numbers on my PS5 setup. It's barely noticable on some of the slower ships, but when playing for example Judge Spear it's clear as day.

The leaderboards are weird, I go into World Ranking and I can only see 41 entries. That can't be right?

If they get this to play smoothly at 54 and the slowing down affect the input latency (if only by a frame) then I'd say this collection is ok. I'd rather have Aces, but it's fine. Eagerly awaiting the next patch!

The Japanese digital version officially says it has English, so I'd be surprised if the physical was any different: https://store-jp.nintendo.com/item/soft ... 0000079429

What's the difference re content? Is this just a collecting thing or is there something game-wise that's different?

Any update from the devs on patch progress / VRR implementation?

Not gonna spend a dime til they fix this release.

Just a collector's thing. I do like my little strip of CERO markers all lined up in my import sections. I tend to move my Asian-region releases into the normal NA releases, and it kinda fucks with me. Very Scott the Woz sort of problem to have.

I get that. :) I like my Saturn spine cards for the same reason.

I think this is the first game that’s bothering my eyes. I mean, it really strains my vision. I’m not sure if it’s the increased speed or not :?

Thanks. That really was a stellar release on 360 huh. Just got a copy in from eBay, hopefully I get around to plugging the 360 in soonish.

Any chance of a Euro release for Switch? All I'm seeing is Japan 80-100 quid large box, and South Korea just under 50 what looks like regular. So this is just the 360 game ported over right? ...why PS4 and PS5, are they not just the same game, or does the PS5 version have some sort of performance upgrade? :?

It’s not the 360 game ported; it’s a new (worse) version. Likely no chance this gets released outside Asia.

Actually, it did get released outside Asia in both the US and EU/PAL regions digital only on PS4/PS5.

They showed off the new patch at a retro game event this past weekend. Initial reports seem positive, but they've only come from casual players.

Does anyone know if the collection even supports save states?

Anyone know how to unlock Dark Sword in RF2 on this collection? The usual trick (hold fire, press start, move to random, press fire) doesn't work, it immediately selects Aegis IV. There's a trophy tied to playing as all ships, including the hidden ones, and Dark Sword is the only one that isn't unlocked by default. I can see that a small percentage of players have this trophy, but I can't figure out how they did it.

Even the Switch 1 port of Raiden Fighters Remix Collection doesn't have "save states" either.

Stage select is only possible on stages you've beaten though, so you have to credit feed your way through the levels to be able to select them in training. Except there's limited credits. The way I did it (I'm not ready to 1CC anything yet) was that I selected "Custom" mode and chose to start from the latest stage I made it to (40) and that got me to the first end and then that was unlocked and so on and so forth.

Still haven't figured out how to unlock Dark Sword in RF2 though.

Edit: It was down+right and press fire on ?. -CynicRoot- on reddit helped me out!
I tried down + fire and right + fire, but never down+right + fire... Doh!

Ah, so it's holding the arcade stick in the lower down & right diagonal direction quadrant + fire button that "unlocks" the hidden Dark Sword fightercraft on the Raiden Fighters 2: Operation Hell Dive select screen then?

----------
If so, that's a major new "revelation/discovery" in regards to the Raiden Fighters Remix Collection release indeed.

Correct! As long as you're on the question mark (random fighter).

Worse than 360? Damn, was just about to bite on a 60 quid offer from one of the Jap sellers for the boxset. Had hoped it would be like the Toaplan collections at the very least (filters, saves, nice sound, region options, the whole shebang).

Well, it technically has filters, nice sound and region options. It's just that all filters suck but one, who cares about remixed music and I don't know the difference between the regions. :D

Aye - scanlines on or off - the others feature a simulated knackered CRT flyback.

I do like the remixes though.
