Just saw that too
The F?
Who could have predicted this?
They remastered the cut scenes. Who even cares about that?
But another shmup remake is good news I guess.

We are living in crazy times. As a shooter, this game is clunky as hell. Lol. Still a lot of fun though.

Looks like this is being ported by the studio that did Milano's Odd Job Collection, and the translation group that handled that is hinting they're working on this too. Which is a good sign! They did amazing work on it.

The PSX version of 70s-Style Robot Anime: Geppy-X spans a lofty 4-disc set (which necessitates the "need for disc swapping" when called for). The slick ads for Geppy-X merchandise and swag add to it's overall charm shown in between stages. Cool to hear that it's being remastered -- will it be released on a single disc this time around?

It'll probably be a single disc this time. Times have changed.

Definitely not on my proverbial bingo card, but I'm seldom unhappy to see "not technically great, but still worth playing for certain folks" titles get a bit of love from time to time.

No, confirmed to be 4 dual-layer blu-rays on PS5. ;pPC Engine Fan X! wrote: ↑Fri Feb 27, 2026 2:43 am Will it be released on a single disc this time around?
Formerly known as 8 1/2. I return on my second credit!

I see -- it has to do with the remastered anime cut-scenes taking up a lot of dataspace hence the dual-layer Blu-ray format. Makes perfect sense in being re-released on modern-day gaming hardware. Still cool nevertheless.

I might pick it up at some point just to support the effort, especially if they're translating it; outside of the window dressing there's not a heckuva lot to recommend the game IMO, but there was enough effort put into the presentation that it's still worth the occasional dust-off if you and/or visiting like-minded friends are in the mood for it.

Re: 70s-style Robot Anime: Geppy-X
It would be a pretty great "retro troll" if they did split it over multiple discs, though. At least for some sort of "more money than sense" collector's edition, anyway.
