I was gifted the soundtrack album and have currently been bumping it on my commute. And while it isn't as inventive as some of their other soundtracks, I will say it's better/richer than I initially gave it credit for. A lot of it probably has to do with all hell breaking loose as a constant within the game itself, so there isn't a lot of opportunity to actually hear the stage music in detail.

So while it isn't within the top Milestone (and adjunct) soundtracks, it isn't as lifeless as I initially thought. Add to that, a really quite neat and quality package, and a good vinyl master, I think it's a worthwhile purchase (even though $40 is really steep)

I have Radirgy Swag on switch and I must admit it has filtered me. I have no idea what to do. Is there any point to fulfilling the requests? I can't even make it to a boss. Either I go too fast and die from enemy mob spam or I go super slow and run out of gas or whatever.

Somebody should edit an FAQ into the OP. I have the translated version of the game, but the "tips" aren't really very helpful. Telling me what stuff does is nice, but I still don't understand how to play this. I know about the shot types and the sword, and you also have a sort of bomb thing you can activate around your character... But I haven't seen a stage 2 or a boss yet. And I'm unlikely to, the way I'm sucking at this game.

Music, visuals and personality are all very strong with this game. Maybe someone can let me know what the hell I'm supposed to do.

There are no stage transitions - you move through four areas as you make progress but there are no bosses and no breaks.
Completing orders doesn't directly do anything, but it helps for going into endless mode if you wish to pursue that after playing the game for quite a while. (the game will usually end at the moon when your distance gauge at the right fills up to the top, but you can go past the moon if you play the game a lot and fulfil other conditions)

I wrote this in the "Strategy" section of the wiki page, but continually using bombs is the core mechanic in this game because enemy bullets are too fast to dodge. In a nutshell: destroy as many enemy waves as possible, get pink speed items and green health items, and press the bomb button as often as you need to keep yourself invincible (i-frames last as long as the white circle is around you).

Wow!!! This is exciting. I'm curious if this is going to be a fresh localization, or at least something that has all the dialogue that was cut from the Switch version.

They're not on Steam yet for some reason, but this Gamer article includes an English screenshot that's clearly showing a new translation, not the old translation from the Switch version: https://www.gamer.ne.jp/news/202602170040/

Which is especially funny because that screenshot was prominently mistranslated in early promo materials from Dispatch Games. Very cheeky of them to show off. The new translation of this line is better than either Dispatch version.

I love the trend that Japanese publishers are going full Thanos with their Steam releases and doing competent translations of their own. They're not perfect(hi Valis trilogy), but they're at least not gibberish. Though I assume most of them are probably using tried-and-true third party companies like 8-4 and so on.

Yes, I feel like RS34 is unusual in going straight to individual translators who know what they're doing with the material. The results definitely speak for themselves so far, though.

Is this running a little funky, or is it just my (generally pretty fucking crappy, although recently somewhat improved) PC? Since someone who has the #1 score on the leaderboard is around these parts, I'd figure they know for sure.

I seems like it's dropping frames (I dunno, it seems vaguely... strobe-y... if that's even a word). I looked at the switch version again, and something is definitely wonky with the Steam version. Probably my PC, but I wanted to be sure before recommending it to others and having them yell at me.

It's a bit of a bummer that it went the dispatch* route, and just eliminated all the in-game text bubbles (edit: there ARE in-game messages, it just took a long time for any to come up, and most are still in kanji)

*perhaps I should have gave a trigger warning before using that word

Hmm, it runs generally okay for me, even on my ancient thinkpad x220, apart from the occasional stutter that can similarly be found in the switch version.
All I can suggest is to try lowering the resolution to 720p and maybe toggle vsync - both options are in the pc settings inside the game's setting menu (the switchboard). I hope you can get it to work somehow

What are your PC specs btw?

So... after checking out the Switch version, I relaunched the Steam version to see if I could suss out exactly what the issue was--and lo and behold--it suddenly ran fine. But there was something definitely wonky about that first run.

At this point it's worth noting I had just installed this new gpu that I basically found. And while I've been using it for a few weeks and it seems okay, I'm not 100% sure it's not fucked up in some way, as it was abandoned by some apparent crypto-creep. Long (and not terribly interesting) story

I have played the game on Steam from launch and can confirm that there is something not quite right about the port. I am getting stuttering scrolling at times, seems to be mainly when transitioning to the faster/slower scrolling speeds. The game fps flutters between 59-60fps. On my first run vsync was off and it seemed to drop frames to 56fps and was quite choppy. I put vsync on and the fps went to 120 which is my monitor default, the game then ran twice as fast. I changed my monitor to 60hz. I still get the stuttering on scrolling no matter the settings. Having game speed influenced by fps means any drop will be felt in gameplay. Overall its a playable game but the stuttering gives it a janky feel and is something i really don't like in games.

RTX3060TI
16gb ram

Yes, you are correct, a lot, if not all arcade games run between 54-59hz, i find the stutter generated by this can be minor, predicatble and consistent, though some games have terrible slow down, either intentional or not. The stutter i experience in Radirgy Swag is inconsistent both in length and frequency, the stutter can happen at random times. Moving from smooth scrolling to a stuttering movement is quite jarring.

I have both Karous and Radirgy 2 on PS5, the difference in smoothness and stability is quite pronounced and feel a lot better to play.
This might be something which just affects my set up and is not the norm. It is a good game and i would like to see more games from RS34 released, i just hope this is an isolated thing.

Okay, I just launched it again, and it's still fine (runs exactly the same as switch)
But yeah, that first run was was ruff for whatever reason. It just seemed to be dropping frames all over place, and when I got into "Over" everything just kind of blurred/smeared. I have no idea how it fixed itself, but I didn't even restart the cpu, just relaunched the game/steam

Oh, specs!

-16 gb ram
-a rtx 3050 (that seems to be working properly)
-an i7 motherboard that isn't very fast. Like maybe 3ghz

Think this is some crazy fun even though still not know what doing most of time lol.

Originally... thought it was slow and boring... until read about Wee-Fee gauge and how to boost it up... and now having crazy fun lol... fking crazy when Wee-Fee is max and screen zoom by so fast and enemies spawn at crazy, crazy speed. Now because of this will probably never clear game lol because having too much fun just doing this and going MAXXX SPEEEEED X_X!!!~ So far performance is ok! No big problems!!~

I'm not sure if you read this, but in the 'pro tip' dept: that television that cycles through images in the top right of the ship select screen isn't just decoration, but actually a difficulty select. If you launch the game while it's displaying a map, that's kind of like 'hard' difficultly. More and bigger enemies will spawn from the jump, allowing you to get the multiplier up very quickly.

If it's only the first run, maybe it was compiling shaders? So it was only the first time you hit a given area.

Maybe. I have it narrowed to windoze/the gpu/the intro preamble, because when I played it on my linux laptop with integrated graphics it was fine from the jump (I noticed the other person who had an issue also has a RTX, so I'm leaning towards that). Worth noting I'm also a complete dummy when it comes to the realm of PC gaming (beyond like an Amiga 500) which is why I avoid it if at all possible.

If you go back a few pages in this thread, you'll see that I was convinced it was just RNG for a embarrassingly long period of time. It was actually moji that figured it out. I was literally quitting and restarting runs 50 times until I got the patterns I wanted like it was snood.

I've actually never played either Klon game, as I've never owned a 3ds. So I'm kinda of excited?

Edit: FYI, the stream on their feed ends... abruptly. This one has like another hour of a live music set (either them or youtube must have split the stream into two for whatever reason)

I don't know if they discussed this, but do they plan to include Happy Together with the Steam version of Swag? To my understanding, it's what they planned on doing with the Switch release initially, and personally, I think it's a much better idea than releasing them as two separate games.

Probably. Since these ports are coming fast and furiously (like vin diesel) at this point, it would ultimately be easier. That said, probably not so great for future reference (i.e. no one would probably be checking a 'Psikyo Mega Thread' looking for info about a specific zero gunner 2 port)
