Will Treasure ever make a triumphant return?

Post by xEbb1993x »

I’m still waiting. They owe me a Sin & Punishment 3 especially since the second game ended on a cliffhanger. Unless M2 is shaping up to be the next Treasure. Either that, or maybe this generation’s Treasure. So should Treasure make a comeback or is M2 their successor?

Fromt what I heard they were guns for hire for some years and eventually reduced to one guy holding on to the IPs or something. I wouldn't expect to ever hear from them again.

Don't worry about it. You can travel from the Milky Way to Andromeda and back 1500 times before the sun explodes.

To me, Sin and Punishment 1 & 2 represent everything I hoped videogames would be, so it pains me a lot that they didn’t survive.

Especially considering the second game ended on a cliffhanger!

Um.. no. The people that made up the company are freaking ancient. Enjoy the many quality games that already exist by them. Don't expect any more.

Then I guess it really is up to M2 to carry the torch...

Which torch is that? I don't think M2 is ever going to make anything as wacky and out there as the stuff Treasure were notable for

Currently re-enjoying Wario World. For me, one of their finest. Whoever Treasure is now, they're following me on X.

Trust me. M2 is carrying a lot on Treasure's shoulders right now. Especially since Hiroshi Iuchi, the brain behind Radiant Silvergun and Ikaruga, is making Ubusuna, which I deeply suspect will be the next Radiant Silvergun and Ikaruga.

Yea, I love Treasure too. I went on a Treasure binge some 4 years ago and went on Ebay, swap meets and various mom and pops retro game stores buying up their games. If I had to pick a favorite, it would be a 3-way tie with Sin and Punishment 2, Radiant Silvergun and Ikaruga. Surprisingly though, I don't hear hardly anyone mention Astro Boy Omega Factor, the 2D GBA boxing game, Ippo something and the Saturn version of Silhouette Mirage. These games are just a step below the top 3 for me. The boxing game reminds me of a Japanese Punch Out. And yea, M2 is the closest thing we have to having a modern Treasure.

Also, I did read years back in an interview he did that the owner/president of Treasure, Masoto Maegawa mentioned he was going to start licensing his game out. Don't think there's any actual developers there at this point. More of a strictly business/licensing company.
As far as a Sin and Punishment 3, that is a Nintendo decision. They hold the IP, but as I mentioned who would develop it? Maegawa would have to bring back the old band to get the project going.

Then he needs to contact Nintendo for it. Give Isa, Kachi, Saki, and Airan one last go.

It's OK to just let things die. That's the nature of life.

Saizensen is more like Fill in Cafe 2, if you want to come down to.

This makes more sense. Their Steam reviews are pretty brutal in many cases: https://store.steampowered.com/search/? ... +Saizensen.

I do kind of want to try Blade Arcus and Strangers though... it appears there is a demo for the former.
