This thread easily wins the "most retarded post evar!!1!". Unsurprisingly, i'd add.

This is the first time I've ever read anything by this guy. Holy crap, is this guy so fragile and easy to set off. I guess him being a journalist to a major gaming publication and having done game level design on a video game automatically makes him better than all of us, therefore his opinions matter over ours. If he is that reactionary over a small group of people who disagree with his views, then he is sure as hell in the wrong type of profession.

Rumours say that he spends his time hunting down people who disagree with him on the intarweb. If so, that's definitely worrysome, yes. Then again, an ex-designer that discovers rank in 2006, well...

This thread is becoming less than impressive. Maybe we should confine flaming to here so that new users looking to sign up aren't dissuaded by these embarassing argument threads that have been popping up so frequently as of late.

It's one thing to argue with big shot magazine journalists, but to argue amongst each other is just pointless and un-funny.

When i first joined this forum i was taken aback by how nice and educated everyone seemed to be... this should really be cut short guys. Don't make the mods do it...

EDIT - i'm referring to the Arznei/Elixer thing, just to clear that up.

About twe:
He does not welcome new people
I can't really agree with this. Although I've been lurking for a long time, I'm a very new poster (check my join-date). Yet I've not come in for any abuse from twe or anyone else. Disagreements in debate topics, yes, but nothing significant whatsoever.

Thanks Eps.

Arznei is an angry fellow and a troll, as you can all see from his posts in this thread. He got mad at me a few months ago because I pointed out that his copy of Radirgy (PS2) was a bootleg, and I wanted impressions from a legit copy. He totally freaked out, swearing at me. So with that, he thinks "Twe hates all new members". The only noobies I've had problems with are him, Elixir, Resoglas, and maybe that Gunspike guy (the latter two are the ones who say people who don't play on Very Hard on every shmup are pussies). But many people have had problems with these people! I don't really know why Arznei centers all his anger on me. I think he has some problems.

I enjoy these forums and try and contribute meaningful posts, such as the recent Mushi Maniac strategy guide I wrote, and some of the Japanese translations I've done. Granted, I've posted some stupid stuff too, like many people (such as my recent posts with Cigsthecat about mushihimesama). But I've met a lot of cool people here and it's the only game forum I post on regularly now!

i have very fond memories of myster teslar, wether you saw someone post with some obvious signs of mental disorder, you could be sure it was his alt.
i really liked how he flipped out and sucided his account for the most inane reason ever at the end, i must say i miss him.

ps: arguments are the life of a forum, it's where you learn stuff and have fun (well, outside the ST forum that is). what do you want?
"hay guys dodonpachi is super cool"
"yes i agree"
"there's bullets and combos and stuff"
"let's dance"
"if you dont have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all"

but what can i say, i'm just a troll.

Sigh, peoples' feelings getting hurt on messageboards again.

I sort of liked Elixir, but I only started to notice him right before he got banned. I think that by then, he was making some effort, however small, to fit in. Maybe the mods yelled at him. In short order, someone teased him just a little, he went off again, and he got himself kicked out. But I could imagine having a conversation with Elixir. I'm not so sure about Recap. I think Recap's just been in too many flamewars for too long and he's forgotten how to really discuss anything. But I infer all this from just a few kB of text.

twe & Arznei: I think you two are winding each other up here, to no good end. Nobody likes condescension, and nobody likes being yelled at.

Me: Perhaps I should just mind my own business.

I tried to explain why RPGs aren't challenging in this thread at (you knew it was coming) Gamefaqs. I thought I was rather cool about it, but of course some of those kids never leave the house, and it shows.

Wasn't there one from gamefaqs about how n64 is better than a dreamcast or something that was mentioned here a little while back? Eh, too lazy to search for the thread, but that thread made me laugh...fanboys sure are a weird bunch

latest good gamefaqs moments: arguing in like 10 topics with bitter oblivion fans unable to understand why street fighter got twice as many votes as the elder scrolls in the "best series ever" poll.

but my soul belongs to gamefaqs, seriously, it has it's fair share of idiots (well, any big site has) but i've been theere since 2000 and im not going anywhere. hell there's even a pretty active classic gaming board for those interested. of course you don't go to the GTA:SA board to talk about R-type.

I share jp's thoughts about 'what the hell was I thinking when I wrote that?'

In a way I'm glad the old forum posts are nuked, mine there were even worse.

But actually let's not discuss that 'n stuff.

Nice one, GaijinPunch! I couldn't help but fan the flames myself... 8)

If there's one good board at GameFAQs, it's the Einhander board. And if there's one more good board at GameFAQs, it's the Simpsons board.

Great thread, just checked it ...

I remember back in the old forums (I think when it still was in the Network54 pages), there was an user who posted about fictional shmups that he PLAYED INSIDE HIS HEAD.

He used to describe how great was a certain gameplay mechanic or a certain boss of a level of a videogame he PLAYED ON HIS HEAD.

This was freaking awesome, in the worst way possible. Anyone remembers that?

I think he had less than 15 posts before getting banned, maybe the quickest ban in the forum.

And I apologize about Stuart Campbell, I think that me saying he was a dickhead very near to the beginning of the thread is what made him sign up and post here, to "defend himself". I already "knew" him from the EAB forums ( http://eab.abime.net ). His debates with Dino Dini (Creator of Kick Off ) about Sensible Soccer being better than Kick Off were priceless.

No need to apologize. Stuart Campbell's attitude coming in here was inexcusable, no matter how right or wrong he was, in any social outlet. If he came in here to "defend himself," he surely did just the opposite; he only proved to everyone else here that you were right about Mr. Campbell.

Being a journalist, whether for a gaming magazine or newspaper, or whatever, carries the possibility to be criticized, and not everyone will agree with him/her, since they operate in a public forum. Mr. Campbell really needs to rethink his profession if he flies off the handle because one person calls him a "dickhead." He has the power to influence people's buying decisions if he is as respected as I think he was.
