"A Bullet Hell STG That’s Friendly for Beginners!

◆ About the Game
Kaguya is a classic vertical-scrolling bullet hell shooter with a gentler difficulty curve. Battle your way through six stages (planned) using bombs and power shots to take down waves of enemies from all directions!

Join Akari and Akane on a fully-voiced journey as they chat their way through intense battles, wiping out an army of AI machines!

This game was created by a developer who loves bullet hells but isn't great at them, so it's built with accessibility in mind. If you've ever felt overwhelmed by the genre, this is your chance to enjoy a "kinder, gentler bullet hell experience!"

Of course, for seasoned players, we’ve got you covered too—with three difficulty modes: Normal, Hard, and Hell!

The game features full voice acting throughout! ...But since dodging bullets might keep you a little busy, we’ve included a Library Mode so you can enjoy all the voiced lines at your own pace. Dialogue will also change depending on how you play — try to collect them all!

◆ Characters

Akari Mikado
A third-year student at Kaguya High and the game's main heroine. She puts on a cool and stoic front, but deep down she’s earnest—and secretly obsessed with mechs and giant robots. She enters the battlefield wielding the “En-Tetsu” blaster gun, built in her father’s humble machine shop.

Akane Hiiragi
Akari’s tactical navigator and longtime childhood friend. She’s energetic, outspoken, and keeps Akari grounded—especially when her inner mech geek starts to spiral out of control. Snarky comments and teasing are just part of their daily banter."

The game's title is just "Kaguya"? Like the princess in the moon?

Yes, the japanese title is 赫夜 -カグヤ-, which translates to Kakuya Kaguya if I'm to trust translator services. And the developer calls it Kaguya in the reddit thread.

Not sure what to think about the dev not being good at shmups and wanting to cater to beginners as this might mean the game may lack long-term substance, and same for the mention of just shot and bomb. No unique special weapons? Unless that is what the missile icon is for? What is the scoring system? Is there even a scoring system?

But honestly it looks pretty exciting regardless! The ESP Ra.De.-esque setting with the mix of military vehicles in a manga-style urban fantasy world with flying characters looks really cool, the heroines and the game logo remind me a lot of Kill la Kill, and the visual style in general is pretty enticing. :) From what I saw on the dev's Twitter, the game is made in Unreal Engine, which is insane to me because a great-looking Unreal Engine video game is a fucking miracle but here we are!
