Handheld for playing shmups offline

Post by shmupsrocks »

I have a Pocket and it's great but I'm looking for something for modern and indie shmups including PICO-8. Any recommendations for something great that doesn't require you to go online to play?

Isn't the online requirement a software issue related to storefronts? You might find workarounds for those kinds of things in the usual places. The other option is to buy from GoG whenever possible and hope you get a truly clean installer.

Not sure what you're referring to. Software issue for what device?

Also not familiar with GoG. It looks like a (legal?) source for DRM-free Windows games?

I'm not sure how this ties into handheld devices for shmups. There are devices like the RGB30 that can play PICO-8 games natively along with some other modern/indie shmups.

AFAIK, PICO-8 can run on Linux or Windows. The easiest solution is a Steam Deck.

Good old Games. gog.com

Other options for software configuration are in the usual places. I'd use yandex or stop by the temp to find the usual places.
