This really isn't your ST if you are just linking to someone else's work, by the way. Might want to change your topic to reflect that. ^_-

tip1: you aren't going to make many friends calling one of the major contributors of strategy on these boards an idiot.

tip2: fix your link, its breaking the hscroll, idiot.

Strategy forum is primarily meant for original writing by our own members, so this doesn't qualify as an ST. Also, there was another thread where the link would fit perfectly. I already took the liberty of adding the link to Icarus' post there.

Moved to Shmups Chat.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

"idiots aside"

Thanks, I resemble that remark.
Will you be my friend?

Let me just add that this is one of the friendliest and helpful forums around, I've only been posting a short time but everyone is cool and more than welcome at my house for some shmup action. You're all friends to me.

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind next time you ask for help on any game I happen to be interested in.
jpj wrote:and secondly, i've played silvergun to death and could write an in-depth guide if i wanted, but why bother when there is one already out there with all the same information i could give you...?
Give people the benefit of your own experience and wisdom. That's what an ST guide is. If you've played Silvergun to death you should know little tricks and strategies that might not be covered in above posted link.
jpj wrote:i never listed the guide as being my work, which is what gets to me. what's the point of only putting guides on the strat section if they have to be written/rewritten by yourself? surely that's just ignoring other peoples hard work, which may in fact be better, that already exists, screenshots an' all? anyway, i posted it here for fans of the game, who want to learn more.
I don't think you understand. There has been a clear converntion and set of rules in place since the Gamespy version of the forums (5+ years ago) built to help keep the Strategy Forum organised, so people can see what kind of threads are available, and to help the mods keep things organised.

The List of Rules is here.

People are telling you that these particular rules must be adhered to in the Strategy Forum otherwise you cause confusion. People who've been here before for a good set of months/years know that when a thread is designated "ST: [gamename]" in the Strategy Forum, it generally means its a full breakdown of a game - everything from weapons, scoring, rank, ships, stages, bosses, strategies and tips, glitches and other useful nuggets - while there are other prefixes for other types of threads, such as requests (RQ), scoring demonstrations (SD) and general discussion (GD).

That is why I suggested you might want to change the topic prefix to avoid confusion. Someone would click on this topic expecting a nice long write up akin to this Garegga ST, this Border Down ST or this Ketsui ST, and end up staring at a link to a garbled Babelfish machine translation of an admittedly good guide. I don't speak French, and not everyone has the time and patience to sift through messy machine translations to get to the good info, thats why we encourage all STs to be written and hosted as such.
jpj wrote:you can either use the guide, or not use the guide. unless you want to talk to me about silvergun, don't talk to me.
Yeah, thanks for the link. Even though it was posted already. No thanks for the rudeness. People offering you sincere advice and you bite back. Cheers. -_-;;
