Worst threads ever
Worst threads ever
Okay, I am not here as long as others, and recently I browsed this forum for all those highlights (and lowlights) I missed - people swearing and getting banned, insulting others, or general trolling. For instance, I totally overlooked that spectacular Raiden topic where a certain well-known game journalist insults people in lenghty ramblings and gets banned.
So, what do you think are the most intense topics in the depths of this forum? Controversies, bans, heavy derailings... or threads that are so bad that they are funny again or ACTUALLY funny.
So dig out the best or worst topics and link them here!

Boy... if this thread isn't inviting disaster, I don't know what is.
Wasn't Recap's last post the one where Elixir tried to come in and talk like he knew anything, Recap busted him, he then tried to say "well I didn't say....", then Recap quoted him in like 10 different places in one post.
Laughed my ass off.
My two pesos worth though... there are many more threads way more useless that have no arguments or trolling in them.

Rapid Fire - got a nice, funny, ending too. I couldn't help but make fun of someone's comment on hardware autofire.

There's a bunch of Recap ones that others will remember better than I can. Got sources, anyone? (The one where he argued that the PCE-CD version of Dracula X was subtitled [something I can't remember] despite being told several times over by Japanese literate members that it wasnt is one that comes to mind.)
Oh and that one where people were moaning about mainstreamers and their 'hatred of 2D' which got derailed a million times over is quite funny. Still going on too.
Honestly, people should lighten up a bit. Opinions are always going conflict on the interweb.

There was one gem called PSP vs. DS (you just know by the title) and yeah, in the end it degraded into people quoting to make the pretty uberquote design shown in the autofire thread Icarus linked. It's in here somewhere, locked away (thanks mods, no sarcasm).
Not really funny stupid like the mainstreamers one though.

Here's the one where Elixir basically started off his very short career of acting like a dickhead:
Click me
Mind you, his first post in the thread, somewhere down the page, was his 7th post on the site ever. For those that think Recap is way too harsh about his hobby, you must admit, he was 100% in the right when he slapped Elixir in the cock...verbally speaking, of course.

Yeah, that was my thread that got derailed. Fortunately Zack Keene moved the discussion to OT. Here's the original thread, with Zack's link to OT:Icarus wrote:There's a bunch of Recap ones that others will remember better than I can. Got sources, anyone? Damn that mame corporation and their hundreds of thousands of games.
@Icarus, I know about the mainstream gamer thread, that was actually one were the derailing helped to calm the minds.
"Locking a thread every time someone disagrees is no solution" - "I disagree". Priceless. Maybe we could broaden this one and add outstanding posts like that one.
"And my tone is fine, you're just mentally deranged. Anyone can see that."
I hope nobody is getting pissed off when being mentioned here, this might develop into a "evil thread about evil threads" kinda thing.
EDIT: Grow, thread, grow as fast as germs grow on a tuna sandwich left in a car in summer!

Jac2Mac appears to have vanished. Here's one of his finest:

Of course, if you don't know about Jac2Mac, that thread will be pretty unremarkable.

I think you have to be able to look back and see just how much some people have mellowed over the course of their stay here. And also to see just how frequently some topics crop up (the Garegga rank ones are definitely classics). If you can't look back and have a little chuckle at some of the absurdity that goes on around here, then you aren't really that human (and BulletMagnet was called that by Rando a long time ago ^_-).
I'm hoping that this thread does expand a bit, I like a good laugh, and reviewing old and funny threads is a great way to ease a bit of tension.
EDIT: Some people lament on internet memes like "O RLY?" but we too have our own memes on this forum - "ZOMG ITS NOT LOW-RES!", "I like tacos" and so on. ^_-

I actually thought it was quite clever. In your defense, I thought of asking for a thread like this not long ago (after the remeniscing in the "remember when" thread). I realized that I knew pretty well all the crappy threads, so asking would be pointless.FrederikJurk wrote: I knew this would happen (please note the following smiley as a demonstration that I take this lighthearted:)

Read it and it was awesome; however, not nearly painful as sitting through a Constitutional law class for two weeks talking about one sentenceNemo wrote:Yeah that's a classic, 2 and 1/4 pages about one letter in a word.Icarus wrote:Hah, found it.
