Project X: Light Years - legendary Amiga shmup will back in 2025 on PC

Post by ProjectXLightYears »

Exciting news to share! Project X is officially making a comeback this year under the Team17 license.

I'm thrilled to be developing this game alongside an incredible graphic artist and a talented music composer.
Even more exciting, the new title theme is already complete, composed by none other than Allister! Plus, his brother is returning to lend his voice to the project.

We’re aiming for a Q1 release this year, and you can already try the full Level 1 demo on Steam.

Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to launch!

After two months of hard work, I'm excited to announce that the updated demo is now available on Steam!

It’s based on the final version of the game and represents about 99.9% of what you can expect in the full release. A few small tweaks may still be made before launch, but overall, this is a near-final look at the full experience.

The "Project X: Light Years" demo is a mere 504.8mb d/l on the Steam Deck. It runs at a slick "arcade spec" 60fps framerate with a scanline filter automatically applied just for the PXLY demo. Looks and plays awesome on a 1st-gen Steam Deck setup indeed without the need for a Proton loader. On-line leaderboard support for scores either "online" or local is possible.

Have the first game for Amiga CD32 and the second one for PSX, so I would be VERY excited indeed for this….if it were to receive a console port.
Physically, albeit limited or whatever.

Please consider that once the game's done. kthxbye :)

I recall looking for the JPN PSX import of "Project X2" at a Japanese game shop after reading about it in the "Tips 'N' Tricks" magazine back in 1999. It's an impressive stg in it's own right indeed.

Been playing this all weekend. Really nice challenge especially on higher difficulties. Dev did extremely good. Few bugs here and there but he's been working hard fixing them.

I used to love this BITD but the increasing inertia of the ship as you added more powerful weapons made it really difficult.
