I make STG synth metal covers on YouTube
https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLT-s ... b_rbxygxVX
Want to hear heavy metal/synth versions of songs from series like Dodonpachi, Mushihimesama, Soukyugurentai, Ketsui, GigaWing, Ibara and more?
I upload new tracks every week. Always open to requests for shmup covers that anyone wants to hear!
Long time lurker here and passionate lover of STG's! Tons of shooting game covers (and others) on the way.
Hopefully this is allowed here, I have never made a dime with music, only looking to share my love of gaming music with others than would enjoy it.
Please delete if this is against the rules or something!

For frankgiovonini,
Please do a heavy metal/synth rendition of the classic PC Engine Arcade CD-Rom2 Ginga Fukei Densetsu Sapphire's opening introduction cutscene -- that, I'd like to hear. It's really not the same as popping the actual PCE Sapphire game disc into a regular music CD player and listening to the 44.1kHz redbook audio format BGMs via that particular route/method.
Of course, it was "Mr. T's Music" whom did most of the redbook audio BGMs for many of the classic CD-based PC Engine/TurboGrafx-16 stgs if you watch the scrolling ending credits on them.
PC Engine Fan X! ^_~

PCE Fan X, this first track here is the one you're referring to, right?
https://youtu.be/p68Mb0Ix0OI?si=B7sePJaR2DydhcBS
I'll see what I can do for you
Sapphire has some excellent tunes for sure. T's music always delivered, their OST for Bulk Slash on the Saturn has always been a favorite of mine.
Pretty sure "Mr. T" wasn't a composer for the group though right? Like, the guy from the A-Team and Rocky 3?

Hey there frankgiovonini,
Yep, the opening prologue of PCE ACD Sapphire is the one indeed.
Well, the Mr. T's Music" was the group that'd get the music all arranged and ready to go for "final print run" pressing with the master CD prints of said CD-Rom based games. Yeah, the actor of Mr. T is just quite cool with his famous quote, "I pity the fool..." It was cool to see Mr. T portrayed as Clubber Lang in the Rocky III movie shown on the big screen back in 1982.

Okay, gotcha.
It's very unique for such a short track, atmospheric and cinematic at the beginning and then intense for the 2nd half... give me some time and I'll give it a shot!

For frankgiovonini,
Yes, I just checked your soulful rendition of the classic PCE Arcade Cd-Rom2 Ginga Fukei Densetsu Sapphire and it brought a misty tear to my eyes -- yes, it's that good! You've certainly made my day today.
Thank you for an awesome take on GFDS,

Hell yeah - this is great stuff! Thanks for sharing.
I'm also looking through your Youtube channel, and I found your original music from earlier this year. Do you have your music anywhere else, like Spotify or Bandcamp?

No Spotify, I looked into it before and you have to pay a distributor to upload your music there, bummer but maybe one day if there is demand.
Bandcamp is much more artist friendly, and on my to do list for sure.
Any STG song you'd like to request?

I would love to see you do Dawn of Sorrow from Raiden III or Stage 1 from Ashura Blaster please!
Re: I make STG synth metal covers on YouTube
Very cool, I subbed so I can check your videos as time admits. I'd love to hear you cover the first boss theme of Zenohell, "Get Hype" (I wrote the soundtrack for that game).

Furry Fox, awesome suggestions - Never played Ashura Blaster, but I'm a sucker for that Taito F1/F2 arcade sound so I immediately loved it, and that track from Raiden 3's OST is so badass it's a no brainer!
Emphatic, I'm honored! I'll give it a heavy spin and see how it comes out.

Have you ever considered doing some of the music from Elemental Master? Seems like it would adapt well.
I think my current favorites are Terror of the Glacier (11:04 in that video), Calling on the Dark Dragon King (21:29, though there's a cool boss transforming sound effect in game that is missing in the OST), and maybe the opening cutscene (28:08) just because I like the dramatic build up and the way it synchronizes with said cutscene, but the whole soundtrack is excellent.

I'm a Technosoft nut, so absolutely. I'm partial to the Hyakutaro Tsukumo stuff on the Saturn, but the earlier stuff I love too, and as you said, stylistically it's pretty similar DNA. I've only covered Nekketsu Oyako so far, (and planning to do the entire Blast Wind OST in the future haha) but I can most certainly work in some of those EM tracks for youLordHypnos wrote: ↑Wed Aug 13, 2025 2:12 pm Have you ever considered doing some of the music from Elemental Master?
