Night Striker Gear announced!
Re: Night Striker Gear announced!
Everything I've seen with Operation Night Strikers on PC has me really scratching my head.
M2 puts out two collections on the same day. One is about as half-assed as you can get, the other is incredibly solid. My best guess is that Taito really didn't want to pay the going rate for a solid collection and just let it all go to hell. I can't think of any other reason for there to be such a difference in quality.

I haven't bought it yet. What's wrong with it? I watched a vid of it, looks OK. I like the Operation Wolf Gadgets.
Re: Night Striker Gear announced!
Nothing about the Operation Night Strikers collection does not seem incredibly solid. It seems like a great effort from M2 from what I’ve played on Switch 2. Now I’m eyeballing the Sharp Cyber Stick reissue though. I’d like to play Night Striker and Night Striker Gear with it when it comes out.

I’m enjoying it. The physical edition comes with the console games, btw.
The gyro controls work VERY well with the games. It really sucked playing these on the Egret Mini, so these are the definitive home versions as of now.

Has anybody already tried out their MAC-10 that comes with the LE?
Re: Night Striker Gear announced!
Does the PC version support gyro controls as well?

Unfortunate clarification, from everything I have seen, the Cyber Stick support that M2 noted for this one is specific to the PC/Steam version.autoNamed wrote: ↑Mon Aug 11, 2025 6:49 am Nothing about the Operation Night Strikers collection does not seem incredibly solid. I am fairly sure the Cyber Stick USB does not work on any Switch/Switch 2 titles, at least not out of the box without some sort of custom analog converter. I do have the Cyber Stick re-release (the green logo one, I got the one that came in a bundle with the Egret 2 Mini Vol. 2 SD card with Night Strikers, etc.). Trying on both a Switch 1 OLED and a Switch 2, I have been unable to get it to work on any games or even to be recognized by the system. I'm not aware of anything like a newer firmware update for compatibility. If anyone is aware of ANY Switch games that do support it, and you can actually confirm it works, please reply.
FWIW, I do know that the PS4 versions of some Arcade Archives games such as Metal Hawk and Thunder Ceptor 1 and 2 support the Cyber Stick. I tried those on Switch, no luck. Haven't actually re-bought any of them on PS4 to test for myself on that system (nor am I positive whether the controller is recognized by a PS5). Actually, if anyone is aware of any other PS4 games that support the Cyber Stick, I'd love to know!
USB Cyber Stick does work great on the Taito Egret II Mini, and the supported titles on the Mega Drive/Genesis Mini 2.

Also, cross posting from the Iuchi/Ubusuna topic since it's also relevant here. Interesting to see what Iuchi has been up to aside from Ubusuna. It's still coming, really! Really?

Reports say it defaults to windowed every time you load a game, no matter what you have your options set to. They completely mishandled the book DLC, which won't even install if your language is not Japanese. I'd have to go back over to the Steam forums to see what else was reported again.AGermanArtist wrote: ↑Mon Aug 11, 2025 4:56 am I haven't bought it yet. What's wrong with it? Re: Night Striker Gear announced!
Yeah, there have also been aftermarket adapters to allow the Cyber Stick USB (as well as stuff like the Egret II Mini trackball/spinner controller) to play on Switch.
Like this one from Far East Pinball, which is sold out and likely no longer in production: https://fareastpinball.booth.pm/items/4853119
Or here's a Cyber Stick (original) to Switch USB converter project using a Raspberry Pi: https://github.com/tamanegitaro/Cyberst ... _Converter
But I've not seen any evidence that a standard out-of-the-box Cyber Stick USB functions with any Switch game. Would love to hear otherwise if that's incorrect. Or would be interested if anyone is aware of converters that will allow it to work that are available for sale.

Re: Night Striker Gear announced!
Played through each game testing the single joy-con gyro controls in tabletop mode and it was unplayable. We messed with settings and distance for an hour but couldn’t find a sweet spot. Worse, it required constant recalibration during play lest the reticule drift far, far away from center. Maybe it’s better tuned for TV play?

I had no issue using gyro aiming on TV mode. Way better than playing with the Egret Mini 2 joystick controller lol
Re: Night Striker Gear announced!
I picked it up on Steam and although the windowed mode every time was an inconvenience at first (I posted a fix here) I am having a good amount of fun with it. I don't have a lightgun or CyberStick so I can't test those, however using a mouse or controller feels good.Firehawke wrote: ↑Mon Aug 11, 2025 9:25 pmReports say it defaults to windowed every time you load a game, no matter what you have your options set to. It's not M2's best work, but they did put more effort into it than what the Steam forums would lead you to believe (it's 84% positive rating at the time of me posting this). They added a good amount of options for the games so you can find a look and control scheme that works best for you. Also, for those who are interested they included "easy" versions of the lightgun games as well. For some reason they don't mention those options on the Store Page though...
Similar to most compilations we have seen lately, if you love the original games themselves I think the current 10% discount price is worth it. If you're not sure about the original games, you may want to wait for the winter sale.
Re: Night Striker Gear announced!
Did you have calibration problems? The main issue we had is that it would feel good for a few minutes, but you have to be sure to keep your hand perfectly in the same position and only pivot your wrist. If you moved the controller away from your center mass at all you had to pause and go re-do the calibration.utsunderthesky wrote: ↑Tue Aug 12, 2025 1:02 pm I had no issue using gyro aiming on TV mode. Re: Night Striker Gear announced!
I didn't buy any DLC. It does default to Windowed, but it's simply a matter of tapping Alt and Enter. I've just bought this on Steam. I really like this, no issues with it whatsoever and looped Operation Wolf a few times with a mouse on my first go after bringing the sensitity down to the minimum.Firehawke wrote: ↑Mon Aug 11, 2025 9:25 pmReports say it defaults to windowed every time you load a game, no matter what you have your options set to. I would go so far as to say it's one of M2's better efforts.
Re: Night Striker Gear announced!
I did buy the DLC. Operation Wolf FC and NES support mouse, but feel odd with awkward diagonals. I'm guessing it's based on the Hori Track rather than lightgun since the normal in game cursor is still there. Operation Thunderbolt SNES has most of the options in the option menu removed in favor of setting the mouse from the option menu, which I don't like since it doesn't seem to be the same as the SNES settings.

I tried MAME before I bought it to see if I could save €22, but no amount of tinkering with the settings would prevent the crosshairs from forced centering (unless I was being dumb). Anyway, it's very reasonably priced considering what's on offer.

I should have clarified, the lightguns I referred to were the ones that are supposed to work with non-CRT TVs, like Sinden. To my understanding they control your mouse movement. I haven't researched them much and I don't own one so I could be wrong though.

it felt like any other game that uses gyro. It wasn’t bad. I was using a Switch 2 joycon btw, as well as a Switch 2 Pro controller. Maybe they work better than a Switch ?

nope.
But it does have an option for a USB mouse. But the gyro controls feel good enough for me.

Re: Night Striker Gear announced!
Been exploring some of the other games. I'd never played Space Gun before. It lacks some of the polish of Operation Wolf, but it's such a campy fun game to play and for the first time in any Shot Triggers/M2 Gadget game I actually found the Gadgets very useful, since the actual main screen lacked an element of clarity re ammunition types.
I thought maybe that was the reason for the Switch release so they could sell the game to Switch and Switch 2 owners. Likely an update at some stage, perhaps.utsunderthesky wrote: ↑Wed Aug 13, 2025 12:30 pmnope.

And what about the code for Night Striker Gear? Is it already possible to redeem it to ensure you get the game once it's out?

I didn't realize they were doing a whole separate physical just for Gear, but then again it would be nice to have it on a cart.
