Aleste Branch and Ubusuna are probably the most elusive, enigmatic shmups ever.

Forget Radiant Silvergun and Ikaruga, those two are old news. But Aleste Branch and Ubusuna, on the other hand? Those games are a mystery altogether. There's very little to know about those two titles, let alone an actual trailer or release date. It's like M2 is literally keeping us in the dark with those two. Like those two are a secret. They might as well add Zaleste up there also. It's like reading the instruction manual for X-Zone for the SNES and when reading about the bosses, the final boss only has the words "insufficient data available". I think these games are my new white whale now, I've spent years trying to harpoon them.

I keep hearing about Ubusuna from time-to-time but not even a damn screenshot of what it actually looks like. How far is development on it btw (sounds like it's been in "developmental hell" or moving long at a "slow snail's pace" for a long time)?

If Ubusuna is the proper third sequel within the already well-established RSG & Ikaruga storyline/mythos, how's it going to play out, gameplay-wise, that is?

There was a much-hyped PC Engine stg being developed by the title of "Xymati" with rendered CG 2-D based sprite artwork but it ended up becoming "vaporware" at best.
