Hello, I have played this game a little bit on the PS4 version and have started on Maniac immediately mostly because there's a trophy for beating the TLB. Wonder if there are any differences between the PS4/PSVita versions to the Neo-Geo and Dreamcast versions?
BTW I would like to try Neo XYX if it ever gets released on PS4.

Lord Hypnos - 5,752,306,010 - 1243 - Stage 6
Been playing this again for the past week or two, and finally broke 5 billion! Perhaps this time I'll keep going until I get the ALL.
EDIT: Finally beating some clear scores

A few random thoughts:
There's a couple little optimizations that I haven't quite gotten the consistency with as far as my stage 1 goes. Specifically, timing the cancels (devilsplosions?) on the midboss and at the beginning of the battleships. This actually makes a pretty big difference to the medals! I'm not sure if it was actually the highest, but I took note of one run when I got x866 (and subsequently proceeded to trainwreck stage 2
), but if I don't do so good on these it'll usually be under x800.
There's one secret that I can't figure out in stage 3. I also definitely got an extend there a handful of times, but I have no clue whatsoever what caused it to happen. I almost wonder if it wasn't a glitch. Either that, or it's the secret. Anyone have an idea?
In this 5.7 billion run, I actually trainwrecked stage 3 pretty badly. Hard but cool stage, though I don't really enjoy the boss fight as much as some of the others. I also missed the stage 4 extend. Unfortunately, I didn't have the VMU with my save in when I was playing this, which was a pretty annoying oversight on my part.
I haven't really learned stage 5 and 6 yet.

Video--Recorded on an actual Dreamcast with a cheap VGA capture card and a un-powered VGA splitter that definitely impacts the picture quality
Double post, because I finally got the 1cc! Unfortunately I can't say that it's because I've gotten better at shmups since 2015, I just have the ability to emulate Dreamcast with low enough lag and save states to be able to practice the later stages now (Flycast Dojo).
Does anyone know how to get the last secret in stage 3?

Notes
Using the shield on the battleship section of stage 1 is more to prevent hitting Devil Rank during the boss than because it's necessary, but I chose a spot that can sometimes be tricky. There's no obvious direct connection between rank and score, but rather Devil Rank makes it easier to get medals, so it doesn't seem helpful to have for the boss (I could be wrong about this). I can still get the full shield bonus at the end of the stage because there's one more pick up. I know that I will still hit Devil Rank at the beginning of stage 2, where it is helpful.
I came really close to restarting in stage 2 after losing all my shields, but at least I still got the no miss bonus. Worst foible was doing a bit too much damage too early to the stage 2 boss and missing out on a lot of medals that I normally get from that Devilsplosion. This is one of the two worst moments in the entire run, I think
In stage 3, I screwed up the timing of the second laser section, and had to burn a shield. Not too big a deal.
The death on the stage 3 boss was pretty brutal and I, once again, almost decided to restart. It is a spot that I am not very consistent at, but I had planned on using some extra shields against it to avoid this, but I hadn't practiced the boss using shields much, and I wasn't able to hit the button in time. Probably should have restarted. Definitely the other worst moment
. Stage 4 went pretty well at least, but the medal count was hurt by being knocked out of Devil Rank with the death. Might have been more like 1500 without that.
The reason why I decided against getting the second secret in stage 5, is that it seems like it triggers off the same enemies as the first, but I would have needed to destroy all of them (or close too it) which was simply too risky/resource intensive for my goals.
I did get some nerves against the final boss, and screwed up my route in a few places, but ultimately I had enough resources left to get that fat All Clear bonus and a respectable score.
The reason why I didn't get the final boss tech bonus is that I don't know how. It is also probably too risky for my goals

Re: Fast Striker
Thanks! It's a fun game and it was nice to finally get the clear and nearly triple my older score!
